When we built our birdhouses, we hinged the roofs so that we could open them to track the progress on hatchlings and at the end of the season to clean the boxes. These are perfectly sized hasps to keep our birdhouses secure and closed.

Well, these hinges are pretty useless beyond just functioning as a visual addition to a box. The material is so thin and crudely produced that they can hardly be considered a functional hinge. Anyway, you get what you pay for so keep this in mind when you purchase these.

I used one of these for the hasp on a wooden jewelry case (see photo). I think it looks nice (we need to touch up the paint because the old hasp was wider, but that's not the fault of this new hasp!). I now have ten more of these hasps for future projects.This is purely decorative, and it will keep the lid from falling open. It does not--and is not intended to--provide security. The metal is too thin for that, and the screws could easily be removed. But it's definitely pretty.BTW, the screws are brass plated steel, whereas the rest of the hasps are made of brass. This is as it should be--the screws would not be strong enough if they were made of brass.
