My sons pulley exploded on his 2004 Jeep grand Cherokee. This was a perfect fit for the new pump. Old pump seemed ok but changed out. No explanation how pully exploded but it did.

I had no problems with this pulley. Mounted on a brand new A-Premium Power Steering Pump for a 2004 Grand Cherokee, 4.7-N. I used a 3/8-16 bolt with a nut, a socket, and a couple of washer to press the pulley on the PS shaft. It is a TIGHT press. Was a bit concerned of the hub cracking, as I have read some complaints of such, but it held together fine.Tech-tip - if replacing a Jeep WJ PS pump, and you have the hydraulic fan, be sure and compare the high pressure orifice on your new pump to the old pump. Most new pumps have too small an orifice and you will starve the system and burn your new pump in a matter of months. In lieu of swapping them on mine, I just removed the new one and drilled it out to match the factory size. If you remove to swap or drill, be careful removing - there is a spring behind the orifice that is DYING to fly around your shop! You will also have to remove to reservoir to get the orifice out, or at least it is a lot easier to remove with the reservoir out of the way....

I fitted the pulley to a brand new power steering pump also bought on amazon for my 2001 jeep Cherokee. The pulley was installed correctly, but was very tight going on. After close inspection you can see hairline cracks that radiate from the hub to the three holes, Obviously from being to tight on the shaft. I spent most of the morning removing it from the pump. I will not be buying another Dorman pulley. This is the pump i boughtNew Power Steering Pump For Jeep Cherokee XJ & Wrangler TJ 4.0L - BuyAutoParts 86-00274ANUpdate: I spoke to a Tech support guy at Dorman about the cracking of the pulley. The pulley and the shaft of the pump have a .005 inchnominal interference fit.He also said that he couldn't believe the metal bushing could expand that much, seriously!! Whats he think its going to compress the shaft. He didn't mention what the + - tolerances are for machining are.I believe that .005 for a press is way excessive for this application. Basically a metal bushing co-molded in poly carbonate. I am buying the OEM Mopar pulley and see how that fits. I will be measuring them before I fit them together.

(2000 Jeep Cherokee sport) Had this installed about five days ago, was a little bit of a pain to put on the pump but its fine. Yes it’s plastic but the previous was plastic too. Didn’t break on me and works as planned. Four stars for now, see how long it will last. Will update if it breaks or something. Tx
