Not good at all, returned! Made cheaply for a Dorman product. Literally fell apart after closing the door...Installation is rough with big hands, and very tight spot to get to once breaks. Do not buy unless you want to.be stubborn and learn the hard way!

This item fits my 1998 Ford Expidition XLT 4.6 LDifferent color and missing the larger keyway but fits perfectly so the insanity of the door ajar warning system is currently under control.

I installed it and it didn't work. I tested it outside and it seem to be working. I tried installing it again didn't work. I took the door latch out of the door put the switch in it, and tried it it wasn't working but if I pushed on the back of the switch it would work. I realized the two parts of the switch weren't attached properly. The plastic part that has the plug was moving inside the metal casing that latches into the door latch. At the top of the metal casing where we're at crimped together, it wasn't crimped properly so the inner is were flopping around inside of it. At the price it really wasn't worth returning so I figured I'd see if I could fix it. I used a pair of channel locks to push the plastic piece down into the casing all the way and then used a vice to crimp it together it seemed to work and it's holding together and working. We'll see if it holds up, but it's ridiculous to have to fix it part like that not to mention all the time I wasted installing it then removing it they're installing it again then removing the entire latch finally getting it to work and then having to reinstall the oven latch and reconnect all the linkage. What should have been a 20-minute job ended up taking hours.

Again Dorman has came to the rescue with the same quality part as original, but with a price tag that would make the Chinese jealous.

Works great, replaced switch in '99 ford expedition so lights come on when door opens. Most importantly, chimes when headlights are left on and door opens

The mechanic who installed it mentioned that its plastic body broke when the door was closed for the first time after installation in our f 150. He had to take both out again epoxy it and install it again. Don't know how long it will last, the original lasted for 27 years. It works though, will keep watching. Also, the internal springs are very flimsy.

Didn’t fit as tight as the old ones and had to put zip ties on them to keep them from falling, I’ve been a auto mechanic for 37 years zip tying them worked 🧐

The original switch has a metal body and this one is plastic .After a great struggle removing the old switch I finally got it out but then I could not get the new one to turn in the hole which secures it in place . So I fiddled with the old one and it started to work again so I reinstalled it and its fine .I'm not returning the new switch just in case I have to try again .Update .So my old switch stopped working again so I tried installing the new one .It turns out the new one has a thick paint covering the metal body and I had to grind it off to make it fit . There's also a tab that locks the switch in place and I had to grind it down a bit as well .Now it is in place and working as it should .
