This was not the right part for my husband's car, so can't really say how it works. It did arrive quickly though.

its been just over a year, and the part has failed. it stuck in the "open" position. meaning the gate will not latch. leaving the vehicle unsecured.the original screws do not fit, so you have to source some.the little "saddle" that goes on the plunger must be transferred over from the original piece. no problem if you have it, but without it this will not work.this should come with the appropriate hardware to mount it, and all the pieces needed for it to do what its designed to do.lasting only a year was just the icing on the rotten cake.poor product.

The motor that is already in the beetle has a u shaped tab on it. You need that for the new motor to work. I almost didn’t realize I needed that. Other than that it works like it should!

As stated by others, it doesn't come with the lever-engaging end fitting (so you need to transplant your old one assuming you have it) and you need M4 screws to even attach it. I took the opportunity to get longer ones that went all the way through with nuts on the backside, thinking to avoid the need to remove the entire handle/lock assembly next time.Next time turned out to be pretty soon as it functioned exactly once and froze in the open position. Took it apart to find the following:The screw drive is at double the pitch of the original which puts far more strain on the plastic gears. The return spring has no real way to engage on the main gear apart from a tiny corner of the spring on the plastic sprocket, (and I mean tiny- like, about 1/4 square millimeter) so of course the return spring disengaged instantly. In addition, there is really nothing holding the two halves of the case together apart from the friction of the rubber of the mounting inserts- it can easily be pulled apart without tools. This combined with the fact that unlike the original the return spring is not retained in the spring carrier, 'disassembly' is both complete and instantaneous. Had I not used through bolts I'm sure that would have happened on the car eventually.I have to believe that mine came assembled with a piece missing- a washer or something that retained the spring and fully engaged with the main sprocket comes to mind- as the current setup is unconscionably inadequate.Uncharacteristically for VW, the original is pretty serviceable (just take care with the clips) so at least I could transplant the new motor into my old actuator, right? Well I could if the new metal drive gear wasn't just that fraction smaller so as not to fully engage on the main sprocket of the original. This is a rare case when I have the recommend the stealership version. It's only 3 times the price (also uncharacteristic) but I'm hoping it will last another 24 years, as opposed to the 2 seconds this one did.

So far so good, works as it should. It would have been nice if it would have come with the screws needed to attach it. The screws for the original piece were too big so I had to go out and find others. Also the piece on the end of the plunger (fits on the round white piece) does not come with it so keep the original, It slides off.

First of all, the product works as intended. But, BE AWARE: The existing screws DO NOT FIT this actuator. You will have to get 2 metric screws (M4x0.7). If you are buying this I want you to know ahead of time about this.

Fit on my Car but low Quality. Doesn't work every time.
