I've become a reluctant shade tree mechanic. My husband used to do all the repairs, but he passed away suddenly leaving the job now to me. I have more time than money, so I figured, "how hard could it be?" well..not very hard at all. I think the hardest thing for me was in removing the dash board covering. once I had that out of the way the 4 wheel drive switch was just like replacing something on my old desk top. plug and play lol. The unit performs and looks exactly like the one I pulled out.Happy to report that the trouble light is off and everything is working like it's supposed to. thanks Dorman for making this soo easy and so much more affordable. I know if I had taken this in for service I would have paid waaaaaayyyy too much.

Replaced factory switch in 2006 Silverado. Works great, I was receiving a "service 4wd" message. It would shift into 4wd intermittently, most of the time when the engine was just started. Replacing the switch has solved my issues .Update: it's been over 6 months and 4wd switch is still going strong.... Highly recommend

Fit like a glove. As noted with some other reviews, there is a little bit of a light leak (orange) from the LED inside the housing unit. It's from the LED that lights up the 'dot' next to the button. Not sure what can be done about it. Works fine otherwise. Takes 2 minutes to swap out old for new.

The color is not quite right, and the buttons allow the indicator led to shine through around the left side. The switch does work though.Easy fix - carefully remove the cover with the four button from the Dorman replacement switch. Remove the blue bulb covers from the two bulbs in the Dorman switch. Carefully remove the cover from your old OEM switch. Snap the OEM cover onto the Dorman switch.Reinstall in your truck. Works, and looks like it is supposed to.

Fit just like the factory one. Plug and play. Stopped Service 4WD message on the DIC panel.

Hard to get older switch and wires off unit.Remove switch unclipping side first then top.
