This part replaced the original part. It installed easily. This part, along with a new purge valve got rid of my P0449 engine code.

Stupid evap codes 0442 and 0455 has been haunting me for a few yrs at this point. I bought this back in June of last yr and replaced it with a ac delco part yesterday thinking it was done with after replacing my evap canister a few days ago and the damn check gas cap display won't go away. Since changing my gas cap in 2016 and all codes going away I'm thinking now that I find out the supposed oem gas cap I bought is not might be the problem as it only lasted for 7 months. Well back to the part review. I used this part on a 2005 deville and the biggest challenge is removing the hose that u have to smash the tabs together and push it up and off ( same for the charcoal canister as well) instead of fighting with it ( placement is behind the rear driver wheel) it's easier to remove it from the bracket and release the other end of the hose from the evap canister and fight with it completely removed from the vehicle. I paid a shop rip off price before because I couldn't get it off but I figured it out this time. So in reality the part probably still works but I took a chance and removed for the oem part for $26 over getting a smoke test. Hope this review helps someone else. I'm learning that these Cadillac devilles tend to not like aftermarket parts so it probably was gonna be a matter of time before this one went anyway.***Update***This dormain vent solenoid failed on me so the AC delco was the cure to my problem. Gas cap passed the emissions test check so while it didn't match GM part data base it's working properly ( maybe a updated part).

I replaced the OEM canister with this Dorman canister to fix an evap small leak (P0442) in my '03 Park Avenue. I could not see any problems with the original canister however the new Dorman unit fixed the problem - reset the code and it's not come back. I had first replaced the purge valve mounted on the engine but the check engine light and P0442 persisted. The canister is mounted under the car close to the fuel tank -- easy R & R.This Dorman Canister looks exactly like the OEM unit - size and fit are the same.

I installed this on my '03 Buick LeSabre a couple of days ago. Thus far, it appears to be resolving the P0446 condition. I couldn't find problems in any other components or hoses, so this should fix it. It's a straightforward replacement, although you'll want to jack up the rear of the car (at least partially) , unless you're an elf. Installation tip on this car: unplug the control/power connector and then slide the old one toward the front of the car. You may need to pull just a bit to clear a bolt head. Then remove the hose going to the evap canister. Install the new one by first sliding it onto the bracket, and THEN re-connect the electrical and hose. Why only 3 stars? Well, the thing fell apart on me -- with the solenoid (cylindrical portion) breaking away from the rectangular box portion -- as I was working it into position on a corroded bracket. I snapped it back together, ensuring the o-ring on the valve portion was seated properly and the clip completely engaged. However, I applied some sturdy force to the original vent valve I removed and couldn't separate it like that. (I'm sure it would with even more force, but not the amount I applied to the Dorman one.) The fact that the Dorman one separated so easily has me wondering how long it'll last. If this one dies, I'll go with the ACDelco/Delphi part next time.
