This hoof knife is about as sharp as a table knife (NOT even a steak knife.)It should be *razor* sharp to use it reasonably, and prevent injury to the user.Do not expect to use this out of the box...it will require a *lot* of work with a diamond sharpener (if you don't decide to just return it.)

Sturdy knife. The point was too long for my apron pocket so i took it down a bit. It didn't have a usable edge out of the box. Took some work but finally got nice edge on it. Definitely have to keep it touched up.

i absolutely love this loop knife! i did need to sharpen it when i first got it. but it handles great and is well made. the pick on the back doubles as a hoof pick so it’s been nice to consolidate tools.

Nice package and knife! It’s perfect for my personal use on just one horse. Keeps its blade and doesn’t dull fast. I was surprised at the quality for the money.

Update 09/2024:I found the knife to be unsatisfactory. It just does not cut well or hold a nice edge. It's pretty, but that's about it.*****************************************************************************************************************Beautiful knife with a nice weight to it. It is a large knife which may be tricky for smaller hands or smaller hooves, but the curved handle fits well in the hand. I like that the handle is not made of metal and doesn't get cold in extreme temperatures. The integrated hoof pick seems quite sharp and I would be careful using it as such. Personal preference would be no pick on a knife, but some people might appreciate not having to switch and juggle tools while holding a hoof. All knives need care and sharpening, so I don't expect anything different for this knife. I would have liked this knife to come with a protective case or pouch for easier storage and transport, but obviously do so would increase the cost.This would make an excellent gift for someone who is savvy about hoof care. I will update this review if I find the quality fails to stand up to regular use.

Product is good for the price point. The steel fills up fairly quick. Good beginner blade if you are starting to get into hoof work.
