I was rebuilding my draftsman chair and decided to go with this hydraulic lift. I have taller than normal benches in my shop so this worked out perfectly for my application. It fits perfectly in the new base and works great with the extended throw. Very pleased.

This will not work with a Steelcase Leap v1 because the top activation part is too high, so it stays activated and always sinks or raises when sitting or standing. It can be adjusted and installed with the orange part removed, but then the seat is not adjustable without uninstalling it.

The installation was not as daunting as I expected. Happy to have had a piece of pipe to put onto my pipe wrench . That helped a lot in removing the old cylinder . This new one has a very good looking chrome finish that replaced the old black one. Smooth motion in changing heights. Looking forward to years of good use.

I recently bought a stand up desk for my office and I discovered that I really like sitting up "perched" above my work station more than sitting "behind" it.As such, I looked for a way to convert my existing office chair that I loved into a "drafting stool" height.This was just the thing!It's a standard size, so I was pleased that I was able to remove the chair (using a chair removal tool - sold separately) and then a rubber mallet to remove the old piston. After that, it was as simple as you could get to simply swap this one in in its place.If you're going to add to the height of your chair, keep two things in mind:1. You'll likely want to add a drafting stool ring for your feet to rest on. They're easy to find and aren't very expensive.2. You'll want to LOCK your chair's recline feature if it has one as the minute you lean back at this height, you'll be in for a fun ride on the way down. Drafting chairs, even super nice ones, always have the recline feature removed for safety. So if you're going to convert an existing chair to a tall one, you're going to want to lock that feature for good.Very happy with it overall. It's super strong and fit perfectly. Highly recommended!
