Push the Snake
Loosen the thumbscrew and slowly push the cable into the drain, shove as much in as you can before it stops.
Push into drain when rotating
When the cable passes through a bend or obstruction in the pipe under the sink, tighten the wing screws as soon as the cable stops advancing.
Start the drill clockwise
Clockwise rotation helps the drill go through the bends in the sewer and reach further into the sewer pipe to clean.
Pull Back by Hand
Loosen the thumbscrew and pull the snake back out of the drain.
The cable may have a large hair clog stuck to its end when it comes out of the drain.

The company contacted me after my original and very fair review to apologize and that it was important to them to make it right they offered to send another auger or give a refund. Since the auger still worked, it still seams used or damaged on the outer case, again, I had a clogged tub and could not wait for an exchange. I told the company I appreciated their willingness to make things right- I suggested a 50% refund. In a BIG HAPPY SURPRISE, they insisted on a full refund. It too less then 24 hours for Amazon to process and contact the refund had been made. THERE ARE TOO MANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS FOR COMPANIES THAT WE ALL FOCUS ON- THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE CALLED OUT FOR DOING THE RIGHT THING!!! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OLD SCHOOL SERVICE THAT WE ALL USED TO GET WITH SMALLER LOCAL BUSINESSES AND IT IS REFRESHING TO HAVE IT FROM AN ONLINE COMPANY.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM AND THIS AUGER. It doesn't work. Cranking the handle does nothing. It doesn't matter which way I crank it or if I pull the trigger or not. The snake part doesn't seem to be correctly hooked up to the crank mechanism on the inside of the drum. I'm considering trying to take it apart to see if I can fix it but I don't want it to be unreturnable.I could probably fix it if their customer service could walk me through it.

Disappointed in the tip as it does not enter and follow the p trap like it should. Also takes way to long to try and roll back up.

Used it with the hand crank and it cleared out a clog that had my bathroom sink fully stopped up. Instructions were clear and the product was easy to use. The whole process only took about 20 minutes.I appreciated that it included a pair of gloves, and I like the option to hook it up to a cordless drill if I ever have a really stubborn clog. I took one star off because there's not an easy way to clean the cable and head off after you use it, and both were pretty gross.For the price I'd def buy it again.

I have ordered this product. I have given it 3 stars for now because it looks good. All the reviews are 5 star, but all all of the reviews are 'vine' members that have received this product for free. Mine wasn't free, so when this arrives, I will use it immediately, see if it's really a 5 star product and report accordingly. So, stand by for updates.UPDATE: The unit did this particular job OK, but when stretching it out to dry it for storage, it was NOT 25 feet. in fact it was only 12 feet, and too short for other jobs. The box was labeled 25 feet, so I don't know if this was just a defective one, or they are all 12 feet long and hope no one notices.Because it worked on this particular task, I will leave it at 3 stars and return the auger for a refund as being to short, or defective. If you order one, measure it just to be sure, because if you really need 25 feet, this ain't gonna work.UPDATE#2: Back up to 5 stars. I was in contact with the seller, and indeed it looked like there was a labeling problem with the original auger. They have now replaced it with a 25' auger. Just to be sure, I pulled it all out, and indeed the replacement is 25' and should work well for any drain problem in the future. So all in all, this, and the seller, has earned a 5 start rating and I recommend both the product, and the seller.

I had a 15' one that had a key that needed to be manually loosened and tightened between uses. However it wasn't long enough for this clog.I purchased this one and used it with the hand crank, wow what a difference. I had the sink unclogged within a few mins. Super easy to use and came with some gloves.
