With the Machine 4x4 MU-MIMO AC1733 Wave-2 Dual-Band Gigabit Access Point, you can expand the reach of your existing wireless network. Multiple users can connect to the network via wireless or wired connections. The Machine supports 4x4 MU-MIMO dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) Wave 2 wireless access, as well as four wired Gigabit connections. The Machine also doubles as a security gateway for your network. It has a built-in firewall and can act as an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and Intrusion Detection System (IDS). Additionally, the Machine can function as a VPN server and as a Network Controller. As a VPN, it can provide remote users with secure tunnels into the network, helping to safeguard sensitive data. As a Network Controller, it has the ability to provide network management, analytics, and more.

The unify software is simply the best. It provides so much details about each client device, VPNs, ISP, etc.If you don't need PoE (Power over Ethernet), this is a great router with a built in WiFi access point. Super easy to manage.

This Ubiquity router is the cornerstone of our managed home network consisting of the UDM, four UniFi 8-port Gigabit managed switches, and two UniFi WiFi 6 access points. Management of the system is not for a novice. Fortunately I have over 30 years as a technology consultant. We previously had a UDR model and bought this UDM as a backup. I had made a complete backup of the system information of the UDR so when it crashed permanently one evening I was able to swap in the UDM in about 20 minutes and have the network functioning with no loss of utility.The Unifi system is managed from either an app on a tablet/phone or from a browser. Every item in the network from the incoming internet connection to the last downstream device is shown and can be managed. Multiple wireless and wired networks can be created and managed with separate security and access rights. Multiple administrators with different rights can be created. The system can be managed locally or remotely.I deducted one star because there are some management tasks that can only be done from a browser, not from the app and the overall management system is often confusing and not intuitive. As I said above, it is not a system for a novice.

Upgraded from an older Cloud Key. Process was fairly simple and I was online again in just a few minutes. Software is 90% automatically configured with little changes necessary. Added some firewall rules and it works great. This is a must for homeowners who want more control of the internet and wifi activity.
