They work just fine. I would highly recommend using distilled water in every humidifier/diffuser. It keeps the water from smelling bad, and also keeps the "white dust" from accumulating on furniture

I use them to reduce any small amount of harsh minerals although I’m not sure these pads do all that much. Given their low cost, why not.
