TEST 1 - First step in preventing counterfeit bills
Use the Classic Counterfeit Detection Pen located in the pocket on the right-hand side of the Tri-Test.
Draw a prominent line on a suspicious bill.
A light yellow line will appear on legitimate currency and will eventually fade after time.
A dark mark will appear on an paper that isn't US currency.
Use this as a quick way to check for authentic paper.
TEST 2 - Security Stripe Verification
Use the Tri Test UV Light to can scan for the natural security thread that exists in all genuine United States Bills.
Each denomination has a different location for the security strip. Make sure the security strip lines up with the guide.
A convenient guide on the front of the unit shows you the color and location for each denomination 5 dollar bills and higher, making it plain and transparent to see if you have a bleached bill on your hands.
TEST 3 - Watermark Verification
Turn on the switch located on the side of the Tri-Test to turn on the LED light used to locate watermarks
Using DriMark's LED backlight technology. You can scan the bill in question for the legitimate watermarks.
Use the LED light to locate watermarks.
These should mirror the portrait in the center of the bill except on the 5 dollar bill, the numeral 5 appears, not an image of Lincoln

We purchased these to replace one we had for a while, but the LED Light went out. These are fantastic! It was a great addition since we don't have to be turning it on and off anymore with the sensor it comes with now

It's light weight and kid of cheap quality, but it does the job. It helps you check for bills watermarks easily.

It does the job. It will be helpful when taking larger bills. Does the job, but feels cheaply made. It's worth the $35 I paid for it.

Nice unit for light usage and occasional usage at events and other situations. Offers 3 options to detect so can review watermarks, security strips and cotton rag paper. Can also see holograms and security features on many driver's licenses.I say light usage because it is built from plastic so a misplaced hand on top of the unit, accidental placement of a heavy object, or a fall to the ground will likely break off the light bar on top of the unit. Be aware of the unit's construction and it should do a good job.I have used it several times already. Can't say I found a bad bill, but that is a good thing to have ensured I took good cash. Only had unit for a shot time, but these have been around for a while.You can replace the detector pen if you accidentally lose it or let it dry out before it's time. The same company sells the widely used pen used for cotton rag paper detection.This unit will show holograms and other security features of Non-US bills but the security stripe detection alignment marks are designed for US bills.As a former banker, it works. Just would not put in a front line situation since is plastic.

The light and uv light make it impossible for the counterfeit money to get thru. I run a fast paced business. Where only twice a year, over a 4 day period, we take in lots of cash. Last year my employees took $1100 in counterfeit money in one night. That money passed the pen test. It would not have passed uv. So this year I have no doubt the counterfeiters will be back. (They come every year.) This time/event, they won't get over on us. I am so happy to not have to worry this time.

It did not stay on and the lights are too dim too see anything. The power supply is lacking 4.5V 1000ma it what it says is needed but comes with a 3.5V 500ma power supply. Using a 500ma power supply when 1000ma is required can cause the power supply to over heat and is never recommened. Even using batteries the lights are too dim to see anything. Gave it 2 tries thinking the first was defective now returning the second one.

Canadian dollars can be identified as counterfeit by the WATERMARK, which can be easily identified with the naked eye.
