1st off... I am not a metal worker. When I was looking to expand some 1 1/8 inch holes .040 inch in 3 inch steel, I knew I would have a hard time to drill it with the hand drills I have. I ran across this option. With a little cutting oil and my 1/2 in air powered impact I expanded 4 holes in about 10 minutesThe tool worked great and still appears to be as sharp as new.Worth every penny.

I needed to enlarge an out-of-round hole in 1" thick mild steel on a farm implement. Using oil and an impact wrench (had to buy a 1-5/8"impact socket just for this 1-1/8" reamer), this tool did cut the steel, but very slowly. Eventually the cutting edges were chipped and dull. Never did manage to complete the hole. Maybe it would have been fine in thinner metal?
