If you don't like soldering when make the RS232 connection, this simple DB9 solerless connector is a quick way for you to insert the wire, so much easier than melting the pins and soldering them in place.
PCB board's solder joints are named pin 1 to pin 9 (DCD, RXD, TXD, DTR, GND, DSR, RTS, CTS, RI), enables you to make quick connections, and to color code per wiring terminals.
Pure copper plated joints on the PCB board and DB9 connector's gold plated contacts for you to make a reliable signal connection.
The case housing is designed with folding buckle, which enables you to make a easy assembly and disassembly without tool.

It took care of a problem for me. Instead of having to squint, use a magnifying glass to see pins and generally sweat soldering connections on a DB9 connector, I got this. Saves a great deal of grief and frustration.

I needed this connector for use on a mini din 10 pin connector for a Yaesu FTM-500DR amateur radio and an M17 board. It worked perfectly with no issues.

I bought two different versions of these the db25 and the DS9. Both of them had work flawlessly to test equipment before I commit to a plug and solder the cables to it. This one gives you the chance to move cables around until you get the right combination and then solder the cables in the right order on the permanent plug. Bought a few more as spares because at any given moment I have two or three different projects going at the same time and with my luck when I need more they'll probably will not have them. I definitely recommend these for anybody that needs to make a quick and reusable cable or even as a permanent one. Beats soldering.

While these are certainly better than crimping or soldering connections, they're not as good as they could be. I've used similar items from another brand (also purchased from Amazon) that were better. For example, the rubber grommets that go around the cable where it exits the connector shell and the strain relief clamp inside interfere with each other. You can't fit the grommet in properly if the clamp is secure.All in all, it works for its intended purpose but it isn't as well thought out a package as its competitor.
