I use these to make a prefilter for a submersible pond and waterfall pump. This prevents large debris from clogging or stopping up the pump. It needs to be rinsed off occasionally, dependent on the amount of debris in the pond. That can be weekly or monthly.To make the prefilter, start with an open top dark plastic container with holes in the side (such as a laundry basket or crate). It must be large enough to hold the pump with room to spare. Enlarge a hole in the side, if necessary, for the discharge hose to fit through to the pump. Line the container with the AC foam filter, place the pump inside, connect the hose and place more filter on top that overlaps that on the sides (more overlap is better to hold it in place). Rocks or stones can be placed on top the container to help conceal the pump and to hold the top filter in place.This size AC Form Filter is good for smaller pond pumps. For larger pond pumps extra filtration material may be needed. I use 3 lingerie laundry bags filled with 15-20 nylon scrubbies (6 for $1 at the Dollar Store). I've had very few water clarity or pump problems after using these prefilters for around 5 years. If the water is not clear, it may be necessary to raise the pump off the bottom with a couple bricks. I rarely have to clean the other pond filter, since the prefilter is so effective.

This material is awesome:- you can cut it up and use it in PC air filters (original reason I ordered it for)- it can serve as a great dust cover for keyboards and other electronics devices- I have also thought about sticking it to the wall as a sound "bounce" absorberOrder a sheet today (real low cost) and see what you can use it for (would love to hear what you discovered a use for).

Though supposed to be used for air conditioners, I use this for alot of other things too, along with it's competitor, The ducky one is more fine, which means it will capture more dust, (you will also have to wash it more). I tried using it as an aquarium filter, along with the thermwell one, but the ducky one clogged too often, and i didnt need the water super clean, so i switched it's use to a computer fan dust filter. Let me tell you, it catches alot of dust, so every once in a while, ill vacuum it up and it will work brand new.This is also super durable, when I had it during a trial run filtering my mini pond, it withstood cold/hot temperatures, the sun, and also repeated hand washed, and still held shape.So depending on use, this ducky one has much denser foam and will catch more particulates then the thermwell one.As an air conditioner filter, it works great too, easy to cut, and when clamped on the edges, the foam squished together to form a nice seal-Cheap-effective in filtering-durable-large size

Not sure how to rate the “sheerness†category. It’s thin, cut-able w/scissors to form any shape/size you need but not much actual filtration because of the ‘sheerness’. After we’d cleaned our bus’ a/c units & replaced the filters w/these, a month later it was still making gray lines on the inside ceiling as the air came out of the unit. Would love something slightly better.

Se los adapté a mis ventiladores, uno de pedestal redondo, uno de torre y un enfriador evaporativo. Retiene casi todo y hace que las aspas se mantengan libres de polvo y cochambre, supongo que también hace que el aire que sale este más limpio.

Excellent quality filter foam. This is harder to find than I realized. I have severe lung problems and last summer in my air conditioner I used the Filtrete filter which seems to be made of old style furnace filter material and is so thin it can be seen through so I doubt its dust capturing abilities. This Duck Brand foam filter is dense and without blocking the airflow cannot be seen through. It also washes very well and holds it shape so is a real money saver in that it is reusable. Not just for air conditioners, excellent for any type of machinery that uses air filters of this thickness.

I bought this because searching for PC-specific filter material only resulted in expensive, small quantities of mesh and fan filter material. I then found this A/C filter for only $3! It's very easy to cut into your desired shape, it's a huge amount (more than 2 square feet), and with a bit of mounting tape, I was able to cover all the holes and intake vents that dust could get into my PC. It's fairly open cell mesh, so it will not restrict airflow much, but the thickness and arrangement of the mesh foam makes it so almost all dust will be trapped. I can update in a month to compare the dust build-up to the previous months where I had no filters on my PC.
