This is. Great additive that is tasteless. We add this supplement to my grandmas food to give her some extra calories. I would definitely recommend.

We used the can we were given as a free sample and were happy to see progress. We are now paying out of pocket for it and plan to use it as long as she benefits from adding it to food and drink. My only pet peeve is that my first order from Amazon came without a lid. Not the end of the world, but not cool since I had to reuse the previous can lid.

My son was in the NICU for three months and having "Polycal" added to his formula. When we got discharged we had one can that they gave us and it ran out extremely quickly. We didn't have anymore that fast, we were totally panicking. I must have called 10 medical establishments, two of which were his former hospitals; one had never even heard of it, and the other had no suggestions for a temporary substitute. He was on it, as far as I was aware ,for intermitten hypoglycemia and also to increase calories without increasing volume. So my panick was that his sugars would drop. Didn't appear that anyone cared though. I managed to cut a batch of formula down to half the polycal normally used in the hopes of weening down, and then basically had none. During that time, I came online looking for it. No one would deliver it in anything under a week, or a store would look like they had it, but really wouldn't (Amazon, included). I even went to the Nutricia website (the people that make Polycal and Duocal), and it was frigging discontinued, they don't even make it anymore (which honestly makes me question the freshness of any of the cans website still claim to sell). I decided duocal was better than nothing, plus it had more stuff in it that seemed normal. Polycal is nasty and is literally just maltodextrin, which I personally can't even have without being very sick. I came across Duocal. Duocal is not maltodextrin and has fats, carbs, calcium, and added calories. The problem was that it is not recommended for children under 1 yr old.. :/ my baby is 4 months. I ordered it anyway bc it was better to have something that is at least kid friendly on hand just in case. As soon as I got it, I called pediatrician and asked about it. She called his Endocrinologist and GI specialists and they approved the use of the Duocal.During the week we were scrambling to get the polycal, my son was having very bad spitups. To the point of throwing up half his feeds. As soon as we started the Duocal back up, the spitups calmed down. We also begna adding oatmeal to his formula which he LOVES. Between the duocal and the oatmal he is getting almost 5 extra calories added to his feeds. He lost 5 ounces in once week last week... since then? GAINED IT ALL BACK. His pediatrician was very concerned and would have hospitalized him if he hadnt gained any weight back. We are very thankful for the duocal and while I would always recommend professional approval, my chlid is not a year old and he is able to take the duocal just fine. His pee and poop are normal. We are very happy. The one star deduction is for the price. We got MAYBE 2 weeks out of the can. $100 a month for this stuff is ridiculous. The polycal was cheaper. I understand its a different product but 35$ is a lot. The shirts I buy on this site aren't even that much. A baby carrier I just got him wasn't half that. So, they get a star taken off.Otherwise, pretty good stuff!!!

My son was 4 years old when he began losing interest in food. He was not consuming nearly enough calories and began losing weight rather than gaining. He was dropping under the 1 percentile for weight at his age rapidly. He had actually lost almost a pound in a year. Our pediatrician immediately gave us a can of this and told us to incorporate a scoop or two in ANYTHING that it would dissolve in that he’d eat. After follow up appointment with pediatric GI specialist, she also recommended that we keep up with this as a last resort before hospitalization or surgical intervention. He is 6 now and while still underweight, his doctors are no longer concerned. By all accounts this stuff has contributed to his weight gain and maintenance. If done properly, you can double caloric intake by augmenting regular meals and snacks with it. I’ve tasted it and it is truly flavorless. Easy to mix with just about ANYTHING that’s not bone dry.

This product is expensive, but you really can't get it for less elsewhere. We had a failure to thrive baby who is now a toddler, and have been adding this to foods. He's an extremely picky eater and always has been, so it's hard to stir this in without him noticing as he's very sensitive to taste, texture, flavor and anything different. It's worked pretty well -- I've managed to put it in spinach artichoke dip and a few other things, but he doesn't eat many varieties of food, and many things he eats like muffins or banana or crackers can't have powder stirred into them, so this seems like it would work better for an older child or one that eats a lot of purees/wet foods that you can easily stir this into. Our son would just refuse to open his mouth/cover his mouth with his hands and not eat, so no matter how wonderful a product is, if he wont' eat it, it doesn't help. He's under a doctor's care and making good improvements. We found increasing the calories in baby formula (preparing it with less water under doctor's direction) and putting 1 tsp oil into his baby food tubs worked best to increase calories (but too much oil can make baby throw up). Probably best to see your doctor about this product; ours mentioned it might be helpful to us. Good luck!

We just received our order a few days ago and so far there have been no complaints from my 4 year old about taste. 1 scoop dissolves easily into ~8oz of liquid. Can’t tell at all with milk. The photo I’m including is what 1 scoop looks like dissolved into 8oz of 50/50 apple juice and water. My 4 year old asked if it was milk, took a sip and said “no, it’s juice”.We have a follow up in October to see if he’s put any weight on. So far so good…

Definitely do not buy this if your child is a picky eater. I was using it in smoothies, and the first one I tried immediately tasted like bleach. Assumed there was an issue with the fruit. Tried a different bag of frozen fruit for the next smoothie, mixed in the powder, and again, had an awful taste. Tastes absolutely foul, cannot be masked by any food flavors. Will not be purchasing again.

Gave it twice to my daughter in very small quantity with her milk and she threw up not long after. I tried it myself and it is not good, the taste and the texture is awful. Can't tell if it's the product, as it is first time ever trying it. Overall disappointing.

Recommend for our kid to help with weight gain. Says it's taste and texture free, somehow after adding a very small quantity to milk he wouldn't touch it. Tried without and drank all of the milk. After reading the ingredients it's based on coconut oil and my son hates coconut so I think the taste does come through to young sensitive palette.
