This is a great set of books for additional learning. I especially love how detailed the book goes into pronunciation, with the linguistic characteristics common in Korean explained the same way my college professor explained sounds and phonics. There isn't a bunch specifically related to BTS other than some group images, some character play with what this person likes or what that person does, but it's kind of neat to see a learning tool that utilizes what real people do. The paper is a bit on the slick side, which makes writing in the companion book a bit unpleasant, but the images are vibrant and bright and the instructions are very clear and guide the learner well. Overall, this is a great tool to help learn Korean. The companion Cake app is a bit on the lower quality scale (think government funded vibe) but also fairly useful as an additional tool to learning. Definitely don't rely on this as your only took to learning Korean, but do consider it an affordable companion.

The set of two books (study guide and workbook) from the Cake Store come shrinkwrapped.I ordered these for my daughter who's a big Seventeen and Kdrama fan. While she's not a huge BTS follower I thought she might have fun with these; she's currently taking online courses in Korean so I knew they wouldn't be her only source of instruction. She particularly liked the books focus on common, everyday words and phrases. She said it was nice that you could jump right into introductions, objects, Korean foods and shopping expressions that would help someone visiting Korea right away. Her online program has you spending much more time learning basic grammar and conjugation before learning how to ask where the bathroom was or how to find a restaurant. She thought the BTS tie-in was fun as well but wasn't as impressed by the online app's lessons. She thinks a free program like Duolingo is a little easier to navigate and offers better audio but having a physical workbook is a plus. The lessons in the student study guide and workbook can be reinforced by scanning the QR code for the cake app and accessing the content there. The book is "narrated" by BTS Army fan Kate, and the drawings and graphics feature band members as part of the lessons. These are paperback books, the covers are thick, the paper good quality and the books graphics and print are easy to read and follow. They're nicely done, but don't expect fluency from them.

I think this is quite worth it. Even if you’re not a fan of the music; it’s still quite helpful. It employs wonderful structure and flow. This may not replace fully featured language learning platforms but it’s a helpful companion book to get you started on basic conversation. I’m very appreciative of having something like this. It’s a nice change of scenery from traditional learn but also high tech learning too.

I've been self studying Korean for a decent chunk of time. I'm always looking for new learning sources to add to my repertoire. I personally feel there's much better resources out there for far less than what you pay for these. The books themselves aren't very big, so there's really not a lot of material in them to begin with. Then if you consider just how much art and pictures are in the book (which isn't a complaint really, I enjoy having visuals to go along with what I'm learning), that takes up even more space which means even LESS material to learn. This is very much more of a supplemental source to use in addition to other language learning texts. I think it's a bit clunky along with the app and the voice recordings you can listen to sound too robotic and not very natural, which I think will become a hinderance in the long run.If you're a BTS fan, and you haven't looked at any other books to start learning Korean, I could see the appeal of getting this. But I really do think it ranks at the bottom of all the different resources I've tried so far.

Am super impressed with "Easy Korean with BTS". I have heard a lot of Korean through songs and K-drama shows for a long time and would pick up on random phrases here and there, but I had been feeling it's time for me to finally learn hangul and start studying Korean for real. SO happy to have come across this!! This book has a refreshingly unique and fun spin to learn basic Korean by incorporating the band BTS in a way that fans of BTS can really enjoy and appreciate, while also providing an additional workbook [plus additional help with app, etc.]Have only just started using this but so far am enjoying it so much and love the help of the videos as well that keeps learning exciting and adventurous and not feel like a boring chore. Overall I have looked through both study book and workbook and content is well illustrated, you follow along how to learn Korean with help of "Kate" who is an army herself, and lessons are presented in a very logical & well thought-out way. The pictures included of BTS included are all very clear and in color. It's really cool to see they are used in clever ways to help learn Korean and Korean culture and keep you in a good mood to continue learning.Another thing I appreciate is the overall design of the studybook and workbook, and how both feel high quality. Holographic font for cover of study book? Yes, please! The layout of the lessons is very thoughtful, engaging, and beautifully done as well in color. [Seriously, if all books looked THIS pretty when I was in high school-inside and out- I prob would have opened them a lot more...lol :p.]In the workbook there are many spaces for you to write and practice hangul with guided exercises and am really looking forward to getting to that point. Overall, if my review changes as I continue learning will update but so far am really loving this and I think any BTS army can really enjoy it and have a blast learning basic Korean with BTS.
