The kiln does get up to 1000 Celsius but has trouble keeping it. It plugs into the wall quite easily not needing any special equipment or anything. Yet was broken on arrival. Complete garbage papers weight. I should never have to repair a brand new kiln. Don’t waste your money.Inside insolation is low quality. I don’t think that it holds heat very well and is combined with creimic insulation which is not safe for humans lungs when heated as it releases little ceramic fibers, that can be linked to potter’s lung, but that can be looked over as its mostly stander for flame safety. Then on top of that It arrived with minor damage. The major issue is that it immediately stoped working right after its first test using. The manual is 4 pages, and has no trouble shooting, then it barely goes over how to use. (It is simple to use but what’s the point if it’s the most fragile kiln I’ve used.

My photo shows a piece of tool steel being retrieved from the kiln set to 800⁰C. I have no means of measuring these high temperatures, but the colour looks right. Temperature setting is simple, and the controller remembers the the last set temperature, which saves a little time on repeat jobs. The outside does get hot, especially the ceramic cover for the top vent. I measured 250⁰C when the kiln was at 800⁰C, so care is required!Care is also required when handing the kiln, even when cold, as the cheaply built enclosure has some wickedly sharp edges. The cover on the viewing port uses a screw as its pivot. The screw is a self-tapper (with a nut used as a spacer), which tightens and loosens as the cover is swung left or right. It will surely fall off if I don't keep an eye on it. I'll probably sort it with a rivnut...as the manufacturer should have done!I wouldn't normally give four stars to something so cheaply made, but it is also cheaply priced and I feel I got the value I deserved. And it works.
