I've been "collecting" work lights for years. I have several old fashioned 110V hang-from-the-hood mechanics lights that use regular incandescent bulbs. One dates back to the sixties. You probably know how useless (and hot) they can be and how easily they break. I have a tubular fluorescent 110V (not bright enough), a Craftsman rechargeable LED (not bright enough), a DeWalt 12V and a DeWalt 18V. Both DeWalts are flashlights with updated LED bulbs. Neither is particularly useful for, say, changing your oil or fixing the plumbing under your kitchen sink. Why? Because they are not floodlights and merely focus a bright spot of light in one small area. Neither was of much use when I was installing new valve covers on my Mustang. Ditto my Milwaukee 18V.So, after ordering 4 new 20V 5AH DeWalt batteries as a Christmas present to myself, I decided to see if there were any new and improved DeWalt battery powered work lights available. When I discovered a whole new array of LED floodlights that would snap onto the new batteries, I decided to give one a try. But, I was overwhelmed with the variety of choices. So, after reading reviews until I needed new lenses for my reading glasses, I decided on this one. I knew it was made in China and I feared it would be too fragile to drag around my cars, boat and general house projects. And, would it provide the kind of illumination I really wanted?OK, here's my experience so far: I've already used it under the hood and under the car. Perfecto! Then, when the outside temp got down to 4 degrees, the power went out and so did the furnace. At night. This little light lit up the entire living room like a couple of table lamps were turned on high. The 5AH battery never broke a sweat. By now, I've used it several times for extended periods. The light never seemed to get all that hot and has a generous aluminum heat sink on the back. It has a built in hanger, which should be useful, and is easy to install on and remove from the DeWalt battery. The battery makes a great anchor for the light and keeps the light from falling over like a flashlight sometimes does, yet the light itself can tilt.Final verdict: It may or may not be super tough, but with a little care, I believe it will be useful for a long time. It's just plain bright on low or high, but the light is evenly spread out over a large area. In other words, it is a true flood light, which is far more useful than a flashlight for most of my projects. Finally, I left it attached to one of my brand new batteries for three days (turned off) and the battery still showed a full charge. So, at long last, I finally have a work light that is actually useful. When and if it breaks, I'll update this review.UPDATE 2-14-23Yesterday, I realized that I had NOT removed the battery from this light after last using it. That was about 2 weeks ago. As other users have reported, the battery, a nearly brand new 5AH unit, was totally dead. Fortunately, it did accept a charge, but in the future, I will separate the battery from the light when not in use. I am very satisfied with the light itself. It is mega useful.

Don't know how I lived without this for so many years. Very bright, convenient to charge, and fits my Dewalt batteries.

This is a super bright light, and very compact, very good configuration and brightness, but it draws vampire power off of my battery even with the light turned off I found out that is the circuit board inside that controls the USB outlets that is drawing the power even when the light is off. I disassembled the case by removing a couple screws, and ripped the two black capacitors off the circuit board, so the USB ports don't work anymore, but now it doesn't draw any power when the light is off and my battery stays charged. So now it's perfect, but be aware this unit will kill your battery dead if you leave it attached to the battery when not in use.

It worked great with my DeWalt batteries. And put out a lot of light. I ran it for hours without it over heating. Only thing I added was a better lock washer so I wouldn't lose the bolt and so it would stay where I pointed it.

Used this led light while doing some plumbing and wiring under the kitchen sink. Plenty bright on low setting, good lighting pattern, easy to position. Did not get hot even after being on for hours.

Well, I clearly should have read the other reviews. A few nights ago, I was finishing up a project for the evening and needed a little extra light after the sun went down. I attached a fully charged, 1 month old 5Ah DeWalt battery to the light and it worked fine. It did its job and gave out lots of light. I used it for roughly 5 minutes then turned it off and set it down with the battery still attached. Early next morning, I tried the light and it would not turn on. I tried the battery on another tool and was surprised to find it was dead. I placed the battery back in the charger and got a fast blinking red light. I had never seen that before and when I looked it up, found that it meant the battery needed to be replaced. I belatedly started looking at reviews for this light and found many, many people had reported the same thing. I had used the light several times before but had never left the battery it in overnight. I don't understand the technology enough to understand how a tool could drain and destroy a battery without actually being turned on but I see so many similar reports from other people that I (and you) need to give it some consideration. So this inexpensive light appears to have trashed by almost brand new $75 battery. Shame on Amazon for selling such crap after so many reports of damage.

I've used both of these several times now. Sometimes, I have had it on the low setting for an hour or two.It does get a little hot, especially when turned on the high setting. Also, it can be a little bit hard to tilt it up or down without loosening the nut/bolt and retightening it, but still, I think these are great lights for the price.

Fits my DeWALT 20v battery great. Light distribution is a little uneven, but adequate for the price. The biggest concern, as mentioned by other buyers, is that the light constantly drains the battery in the "off" position. The battery will fully discharge in 2-3 days, even if it is never switched "on".
