Living in Southern California, where most of the year is dry and sunny, I don’t often deal with extreme weather. However, the occasional winter storm or heavy rain makes a product like the EcoNour EV Charger Port Cover an excellent addition to my EV setup. While it’s not a perfect solution, it addresses a lot of the challenges EV owners face when charging outdoors.The lack of instructions was an initial hurdle, but with a bit of trial and error, I figured out the best way to use it. The key is to place the shroud completely over the plug head and partway down the cord before connecting it to your vehicle. Once connected, you can position the cover over the battery compartment lid and secure it to the surrounding car panel with the magnetic edges. Finally, cinching the drawstring at the other end helps keep water from seeping in through the cord opening. While this setup doesn’t make the charger port completely watertight, it significantly reduces the risk of water intrusion.The magnets are a clever and practical touch. They provide a secure hold without being so strong that they’re difficult to reposition or remove. Even when rain collects on the cover, the magnets hold firm, which is reassuring. However, the hold isn’t infallible in windy conditions. A strong gust might lift or displace the cover, so this is something to keep in mind if you live in an area prone to heavy winds.This product is clearly designed to be adaptable for a wide range of vehicles, and that versatility is both its strength and its limitation. For EV owners, especially those in regions with unpredictable weather, this cover is a worthwhile investment. It’s not flawless, but it does the job well enough to earn a solid 4-star rating.

It’s very easy to use (thankfully because who wants to be fumbling around in bad weather).Easily fits in the glove compartment.

My first thought, when I opened the cover, was that it was too big. When I put it on the car I realized that it was not too big. The cover is large enough to completely cover my charging port, including the door, with a small margin, so the magnets are fully on the body forming a nice seal. The cable end is large enough to easily reach in to plug the charger in and the cinch cord snugs that end closed comfortably around the cable. I wasn't too concerned with rain but when I noticed snow starting to fill in around the charge port I got a little concerned, This cover will keep rain and snow out with no problem. The magnet holds firmly and, since it is sewn inside the fabric, the contact surface is soft so I doubt that it will affect the finish. I had been thinking about making something to cover the charge port, fortunately I saw this before cobbling something together that wouldn't do as good a job.

Got this to protect the charging port on my Chevy Bolt 2019 EV. It is supposed to attach to the body using the magnetic inlay but it does not stick. Very disappointed.

Attempting to use this port cover brought to my attention that my 2024 Ford Lightning uses “military grade aluminum†for its body panels. I got to wondering and checked online…to discover that many EV manufacturers have chosen to got to aluminum to help cut down on weight. So…seems to me a product targeted at the EV market would not choose to use a magnetic attachment.That said…it cover is well made and large enough to go around the door and connector on my truck. With the draw string on one side, it should stay on in a rainy - mostly non-windy condition.

This is a waterproof cover for the charging port on an EV. When I first got it, my initial reaction was that it looked big and it smelled like fish. After trying it on a 2024 RAV4 Prime, it’s really not that big. The Prime has a huge door covering the charging port, so this needs to be big. It just barely fits with some finagling. It doesn’t seal it up 100%, but it does cover almost all of it and makes for a rain barrier blocking most of the water from coming in. It blocks all the important parts anyway.For the price, I’d definitely recommend trying it out. It’s better than leaving it open in the rain or trying to makeshift something to cover it. It folds up small and is easily stowed in the glovebox, center console, or in the hatch.
