Considered purchasing one at HF since our winch is their 12,000 lb one. Picked up the box and was astounded by how light it was. Looked inside and said no way does this last, and I highly doubt it is for 9000 lbs. So I looked elsewhere and ran across this, with a whole lot of positive reviews. When rating for 13,000 lbs I expected heft and strong welds. I was pleased to see I got both. Took a few minutes to assemble (would have been shorter but I goofed and put the upright handle on the left and the lower one on the right - when looking from the back side). After that was fixed a little grinding of the lower side of the cable pathway just in case, as noted by others, and it was ready. Bolts and locking nuts are 11/16 and everything turned out quite well. Quality product. I have no idea how this could get a low rating when you consider ones charging twice as much are no better than this one.

I needed a receiver mount for my winch, so I ordered this one since it was just a little bit cheaper than the one from Harbor Freight. My 12000 lb Badlands winch fits nicely. The fit and finish on it could be a little bit better, but seems to do the job. It didn't give me any issues as a drug a 6,000 lb truck across the yard using the winch.

Despite what some short bus people will say in regards to this “not†fitting Harbor Freight’s 12,000lb Badland APEX it DOES!Use the Hardware with the HF APEX winch!!Steps...1) Install winch mount handles with bolt heads on the inside, and nuts on the outside. Align the handles and then tighten all 4 bolts (See picture)2) Install fairlead with Allen bolt head on the inside and nut on the outside, and then tighten. (See picture)3) Flip winch over on a box so that the winch mounting holes face up, lower the winch plate onto the winch. **All but 1 bolt hole lifted up the other was 1/8 off and with a file and 5second it was fixed** Install all four winch mounting bolts finger tight, once all four are in and threaded properly. Tighten then down.4) Take pictures to prove those short bus people are wrong.5) Enjoy winching. Now while I think this is more than worth the price even if I had to take time to widen a hole (don’t expect perfection if you can’t pay for it) I would say that the thickness of the receiver portion that goes into your hitch should be the same thickness as the winch plate itself as relying and 1/8th thick metal to hold its claimed “13,000†seems well questionable. But seeing as I’ll never see more that 8,000lbs I fell it should hold for now. I’ll update if anything changes.

The measurements in the pictures are a bit different and I was worried it wouldn't fit my Harbor Frieght 12K pound winch. I took a chance and it fits perfectly! Holes align! Looks to be welded good.

Crap! The bolts don’t allow enough clearance for the winch to set inside. I had to cut some bolts off after installing in an effort to get the winch to set inside. Ended up having to turn the bolts around and put the nuts on the outside just to get it to fit. Then the mounting holes don’t line up. It’s like the never actually installed a winch on this design. Harbor Freight Badlands 12000# winch. This point is a wast of time and money…and now my new winch is all scratched up from their bolts. Junk design!

10k smittybilt fits tight but still fits. Only bad thing i can say is the packaging was a bit poor. The handle bars was rubbing against the main piece and scratched the paint of out of it. Some foam or cardboard between the pieces would be nice

I gave this product 4 stars because I couldn't use my receiver sleave due to the gusset on the tail of the cradle not being long enough to line up the holes for the pin. So as a result of that, the cradle is loose inf the hitch because I have a bigger hitch receiver. Other than that ,it will work.Made very well !
