1997 Jeep XJ. XJ's tend to wander side to side when travelling straight along a road. Since the XJ is uni-body and there are no solid frame rails to secure these components to. This results in varying flex between the sway bar, the steering gear and the pitman arm. They are not acting in unison which results in erratic responsiveness, what could be described as loose steering. This brace physically connects the components together and to the frame where the sway bar mounts. Any flex from the body is transmitted to the individual components collectively as a single part, which resolves the sloppy steering issue. The kit does not include new sway bar mounts which will need to purchase separately if you wish to retain the sway bar, which I recommended strongly for on road handling. The whole reason for the kit is better handling on the road; why take the sway bar off? I don't believe this is an oversight on their part. Rather than try to guess your configuration, they save you the cost of including one you may not need. They have left that to the consumer to decide since the kit will vary based on the amount of lift, type of sway bar etc. There are a lot of options available for the XJ. I used the one from Rough Country (also available on Amazon) for ~$35 (part 1073) which worked great on my stock lift height.Everything else needed for the install was included and of high quality. The included instructions didn't help. There were none that I recall. There are some videos available on YouTube that might be worth watching to get an overview before getting started. The only real frustration was figuring out if it mattered which direction to put the bolts in, what had to be completely tightened, and what had to be left loose until it was in place. Expect to remove it and put it back on several times to figure that out. Some bolts are inaccessible to tighten once it is in place. Notably the brace for which the pitman arm bearing mounts. The two longest bolts should be used for the steering box clamps. The next two longest are for the bearing mount.Detailed instructions would have saved some trial and error but overall, I'm very satisfied.

All hardware was definitely included. Did not need to remove pitman arm to install. Definitely recommend. Fit perfectly.

Works as it should. Would have rated it higher if it had an actual diagram, instead of just written instructions.

Junk. Geometry of brackets were made so that the driver side bolts of bearing bracket were impossible to tighten. Turning radius was severely decreased due to the size of the bearing bracket. Also due to the size and location of lower bearing and bracket the factory sway bar is no longer able to be used. To use the factory sway bar would require 1.5 inch frame spacers. I highly do not recommend this product. I am an ASE Master Tech and licensed welder. I would have been better off building this from scratch.

Definitely not the easiest upgrade to install but everything was built well and bolted in. No instructions but its pretty self explanatory when you lay it out and start putting it together.

Was a lot thicker than I was expecting. Very heavy and well made. Fit well and works even better.
