DO NOT BUY THIS!!! The ends on this filter separate too easily because the clips that hold the ends in are too weak. It's a very poor design and almost detroyed my power steering system. Would be zero stars if that was an option..

The new power steering pump in my '85 Bronco died after only a few years, and I had to install a new one. I wanted to be sure that the fluid was properly being filtered, so I purchased and installed this. It was easy to splice the soft return line and install this.I have a few thousand miles on it now and it has been problem free and doing its job nicely. It's a solid, well made product.

This Edelmann filter was easily installed when I changed out my rack & pinion. I highly recommend this filter

I like the concept but waiting for the weather to get better to install.

I needed one of these adaptable filters for a power steering line to step down from 1/2" to 3/8". This comes with the 1/2" nipple installed on both sides. I pulled the 1/2" off the outlet side and installed the provided 3/8" nipple. It went right in, clipped in like the one that came in there from the factory, but it leaks. The oring doesn't seal against the filter housing and it slow leaks all the time. I tried the other nipple and same thing. I don't get it, why did they provide parts with it that don't fit?Update: been installed two months now, it leaks from both ends, both o-rings have gone out. Absolute garbage, do not purchase

I found several flecks of magnet on the magnet, It seems like this could introduce those sharp flecks into my O-Ring sealed fluid system. The stainless screen is the cheap magnetic type that is not as corrosion/rust resistant, over time could also introduce particles as it breaks down. The brass looking hose connectors, are anodized aluminum not brass as the color would indicate, not a big deal for application just deceptive making the product look like it has better quality material, and is $10 more than the one with clear aluminum anodizing. This is a $10 part all day long the $35 would have a better quality stainless tighter mesh and the brass looking connectors would be brass, and the magnet would not have already been covered with O-Ring killing sharp shards. Returning things is a hassle, this time I got took... not going to trust this with my new power steering components. Oh and one of the connectors the side without the spring holding it firm rocks against it's own O-Ring, motors vibrate and it seems that if the connector is constantly moving over the o-ring it would wear out and cause this "filter" to leak.

Okay now, here we go...Build quality... exemplary!Totally impressed with this unit and have already shared it with other automotive enthusiasts and even some of my custom car clientele. I installed tried on my personal life road and f daily driver vehicle. Modified V8 Toyota 4Runner which I just replaced the entire power steering system in this month due to catastrophic pump failure. While this filter may not have prevented that entirely (nearing 400k km and twenty years old now) it might have saved me considerable cost and down time waiting on parts. Cost me thousands of dollars in parts alone to replace the power steering system myself and would've cost more than three times that at the dealership. All but for the lack of a factory fluid filter. This unit is better than factory quality and is indeed what I'd call a high end upgrade or addition. I'll be adding this filter to my other vehicles with power steering as well.

It would be nice if the brass parts were brass and not brass colored aluminum but it should be fine on the low pressure side. The filter is more of a screen with a spring bypass. Dunno if I really need it but hey, why not. Seems a little pricy for what it is.
