Review after one year: We had to get a tiny dishwasher because of the height of our countertops. I had low expectations, but this dishwasher is my best friend. I probably run it at least every other day if not every day. I use a natural dish dishwashing detergent and everything comes out clean. Easy to clean the filter at the bottom. I had a handyman come install it. It was super easy. Everything worked right away. Love it!

Good for a restricted space in a small condo. Didn’t need a full size machine as no large dinner parties etc - mostly two to four place settings and limited pots and pans.Nice and quiet operation and effective cleaning and drying.

I read a LOT of reviews for 18 inch, compact dishwashers. I spent hours and hours researching. I chose this one and I’m glad I did. But here’s what you need to know:Pros: it works! It’s the best, least expensive compact machine. It has a one hour “rapid†wash which works great. A display showing how much time is left on the cycle, stays fairly clean from fingerprints, holds large dinner plates no problem and looks nice in my galley (kitchen - we live on a boat)Cons: extremely hard to install (we did not purchase the install kit, maybe this would have been helpful?). The water is plumbed out the front of the machine (super weird) so if you don’t have some funky plumbing parts, you’ll have to jerryrig the kick plate on as it will no longer fit.The layout for stacking dishes is a bit odd, if it runs out of drying agent (I use white vinegar) there will be a code on the screen and you won’t be able to start it until you refill.I believe the pros out way the cons and recommend this dishwasher if you’re in the market for an 18 inch.

We have a 1950’s 800sqft home that doesn’t have enough space for a full size dish washer. However, with two small kids, we learned we couldn’t hand wash dishes and keep up. It was overwhelming.Even though this doesn’t fit as much as a full size, it still makes a huge difference for us. I still end up hand washing larger items but that’s manageable. It’s quiet. Not super quiet, but quiet. It does take about 2 hours to run a full regular cycle which I feel is a bit longer than I remember when I’ve had dishwashers in the past.We have had it about 9 months now and have yet to have any issues with it at all. Rarely do we have to rewash anything because it didn’t come clean.Highly recommended.

The service guy had never installed one of these. He was impressed by it tho. The hookup went without a hitch.. It replaced one that was installed 25 or so years ago. So far everything about this dish washer has impressed me. It holds a lot more dishes than the kenmore it replaced. And i guess by design.. everything about it WORKS! IT gives/gave an error code tho.. but it's cus there was no spot free drying liquid in it's reservoir. It wasn't broken.. just a nag to remind you for best performance use a liquid drying aid. I like this dishwasher, half the price of a bosh.. with similar functions. and i assume performance cus it does it's job.update: keeps having e4 error.. i can use it a few days then another e4 error (overflow).. takes over 24 hours to clear an e4 error.. i have to shut off breaker in house to reset washer cus there is no breaker on washer. i don't see any suds there is no reason this error is occuring. but drying it out thoroughly (24+ hours) is the only way to get this thing working again. i warn against buying this.. it is crap. you will spend more time trying to get it working than washing dishes. when you cycle breakers the e4 light is still on.. and the washer is stuck in an almost never ending drain cycle with nothing to drain.. this dishwasher turned into a nightmare. manufacturer 1. put breaker accessible to user on front panel 2. make it less sensitive and more reliable 3. display your error codes in english not codes.

I was hesitant to buy an appliance here but it has been working very good. I am very happy with it and use it almost every day. LOVE the smaller size that fits in small places.

Update! 5 months later, this is a great little dishwasher, cleans very well, I can get a surprising amount of dishes loaded, noise level is LOW. You really can’t beat it for the price!! I’ve had this now for a couple weeks. The main reason for an 18†dishwasher was a space issue, I had a perfect spot in my 1958 original kitchen without have to remodel both lower cabinets 🤗 I did have a plumber install, it was a quick job. I am very happy with it. Noise level I consider low, have had many dishwashers over the years, Bosch, Kenmore, etc. Cleans very well, although like most dishwashers if you put the Mac n cheese casserole dish in without basically washing before hand don’t complain. Dries sufficient, I read a lot!! of reviews on different 18â€dishwashers and the most common complaint was drying. This one does a more than decent job drying ( I usually don’t unload till the next day anyhow). I almost bought an $800 dishwasher and decided to save a couple hundred bucks and go with this one, I’m glad I did. I think it’s a great value for the money I would highly recommend the EdgeStar BIDW1802WH.
