This has been the perfect learning tool for my 4 yr old son! He knows his capital letters, but has trouble with his lower case letters. There are a couple of sections that cover that and he's progressed a lot because of the book. I was pleasantly surprised to find that along with that are more difficult sections that he can work up to. I feel like this is a toy we can use for a long time. He is loving all the pictures in the books, learning his letters, and especially loves the silly noises that come from the dog pen. It takes a little coaching at first, but after he figures out a section he is able to do it independently. I've seen some negative reviews on the product, but it seems unrealistic to expect a toy to teach something to your child without some guidance. My 2 yr old son also loves the books and I can use them for teaching him words in general, because the pictures are great. Already recommended these to a friend!

Put new batteries in pen and it doesn't work.Update: Contacted Educational Insights. They advised me to wipe tip of pen and dots with damp Kleenex to remove any dust. Pen started working. You must hold pen straight up and not on an angle for it to work. Educational Insights responded to my email very quickly and were very helpful.

I love this! I'm doing homeschooling (not just distance learning) with my almost 5 year old and her little sister (2.5yo) is tagging along. I bought this product and an additional pen so they could both do this. There are 2 books, one easier and one harder. You have the read the directions but otherwise they can be independent. My older daughter can usually tell what to do now that she's tried it a few times.My only complaint is that the dog pen must be totally upright for it to work. Otherwise it counted the answers as wrong.

Overall great product. Has sequencing, color matching, letters, etc. I would suggest placing the sound buttons in the back instead of the collar because they’re easily to touch causing the sound to go off and also the sound is low maybe it can be a little louder. My son just turned 3 and he loves it.

The box that this arrived in is very sturdy and will make excellent storage for it's contents long term. The included books are good at engaging a child's mind and reinforcing what they are learning in school or at home. They are set up in a way that is makes it easy for a preschooler to easily work alone or along side their parent. It uses several different methods of reinforcing letter recognition, and reading comprehension. My 5 year old caught on very quickly to how to accurately use the pen and the black dots. This will definitely be added to a normal reading practice. I am very happy with this purchase and will be recommending this product, and the other products in this line, to anyone who will listen.

My son has a very short attention span, he can sit down and play this learning activity for 30 minutes at a time! He is learning what he needs to get ready for kindergarten and he loves the coaching the puppy pen gives him when he gets the answers right or wrong.

Very happy with how they handled a refund that’s out of country. We got the exact same set for a birthday so we returned this one. These are fantastic learning tools for kids.

my 3.5 year old enjoys it and has improved alot in recognizing these tricky letters ( b d and p q ) I also liked the section that teaches before and after
