The activity worked, but it barely worked with bananas and not at all with kiwi (we didn't do the onion). Strawberries worked best which is pretty normal for DNA extraction. I also used a higher percentage for the alcohol (90-95%) and the results were much better than using 70%. Also, buyer/user beware: the red beads will leave a messy stain on fingers, etc. It was so messy, I threw the entire baggie away.

This was a great little DNA kit for my daughter's Science Fair project. It was easy for her to use, covers almost everything she needed, very durable & a lot of fun! It was so easy that she was even able to perform the "experiment" during the Science Fair & ppl loved it, it was one of the most popular projects at the fair!
