Extremely satisfied with this! First of all, I haven't stopped playing it since I've gotten it, because the sound is perfect. Also, cosmetically, it is even more beautiful than in the pictures. It came a few days earlier than expected. So, I thank you!

I have been trying to purchase a copper doumbek or darbuka from Meinl, which I prefer to aluminium, but they have discontinued that series and I could not find any sellers. It took me some hours to decide whether to purchase the equivalent from Sala Muzik and I am exceedingly glad I did.I lived in Turkey for a few years and I order books from Turkey all the time. For that reason I knew that shipping speeds can vary considerably. I was also concerned about customs fees, but I pulled the trigger. It happens so rarely that just everything turns out perfectly, but in this case, it did. The instrument is indeed copper, precisely as depicted, with the desired depth of sound. There were no customs charges. Most astonishingly of all, I placed the order on Sunday night and now it is Tuesday afternoon -- it arrived at the other end of Europe within less than two days!Emboldened by the experience, I immediately ordered a short-necked saz from Sala. Since they also have Persian instruments which I so difficult to obtain in Europe, I suspect it will not be my last purchase...

This drum sounds great and plays well. Engravings cover the outside of the drum. It appears to mostly be constructed from copper, with some aluminum at the bottom. The darbuka head seems to made from aluminum. There might be more aluminum at the top of the drum; I would have to remove the head to find out, and I have not done so.The case is a disappointment; it is apparently constructed from a thin textile made from recycled material. It has a small handle and no pouches. I am going to look for a better case because the one provided will not survive normal use.The vendor went to considerable trouble, and they incurred extra expense, to rectify problems that UPS Canada introduced. The customer service was excellent.
