Great item! Will buy again if I need more! The pins (knobs) are easy to maneuver and the ball swivels smoothly.

I have used this new WEYLLAN EH46L tripod ball head for several studio portrait and product shoots, and it is a fantastic addition to our studio equipment inventory. The heavy-duty aluminum alloy construction is “studio-level†sturdy, and the new lower-profile design adds extra stability once the head is placed on a tripod. Normally, ball heads are best used for portrait, product, fashion, and still life since they do not have a panning handle. But THIS ball head has a 360-degree rotation scale on the base that easily allow us to capture stunning panoramic shots with precision and positive edge-of-frame tracking. This additional scale extends the versatility of this tripod head and offers the best of a ball heads fast shot placement as well as the ability to accurately capture panned landscapes beyond a single frame. Also new on this ball head is the release lever clamping system on the QR plate. This is a significant change, needing only ONE motion to switch between my mirrorless camera and a videocam.SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOThe Arca-Swiss QR plate is compatible with all my stability and support equipment, and the safety stop screws and the captured ¼ -20 camera mounting screw give me peace of mind knowing my camera is secure. Whether I am shooting portraits, products, or capturing precise panned landscapes across several frames, this new WEYLLAN EH46L ball head has proven to be an excellent addition to our studio.Mark in North Carolina

This WEYLLAN EH46L tripod ball Head with lever release is a appears to be well made ball head but... The quick release lever is unique to this ball head and it works but could accidentally get flipped out making the safety stops useless and your gear may fall to the ground. There is a locking pin/slider on the lever that does not seem to function as the lever will still open easily regardless of position. I'm just gonna stop there. I think this design needs some work and I would not recommend this ball head.

This is my second Weyllan ballhead, the first being their larger model, which I keep on my largest tripod.Generally speaking, Weyllan’s fit and finish is excellent, including the EH46L. Castings are clean and perfectly finished. Knobs operate smoothly and predictably (but see further comments below). Ball rotation is smooth, though I agree with other reviewers that it is not a smooth as the best on the market. All markings are crystal clear.I would rather the clamp had either a knob alone or a clamp alone, rather than both. I found dialing in the clamp pressure via the knob too fussy, though I did arrive at a point where the plate would release and was fully secure when locked via the lever. Dialing in clamp pressure with a rotating clamp is simpler, plus you don’t have the risk of the clamp being loose if you (or someone else) touched the knob. The lever itself is also somewhat fussy in that it has a small sliding lock that doesn’t always easily disengage. Hopefully this will improve with use, but right now it’s irritating. The pan lock knob was very difficult to move when the head arrived, to the point where I was concerned about damaging it in order to loosen it. As it turned out, the head arrived from the factory with the knob fully turned out - and jammed hard. Now that I’ve freed it, fortunately without damage, it works just fine. Panning is smooth, but heavy and unlike the ball lever, the pan knob doesn’t adjust drag. I also have to substantially loosen the pan knob, or the panning will not go full range. Lockup, however, is tight.I hesitated ordering this head because I tend to dislike levers for the ball itself. As it happens, this lever is one of the things I like best about this head! I thought the pull-out capability would be a pain in the neck, but it is the best implemented of any lever of this type that I’ve personally tried. It’s easy and natural to reposition and the lever itself is beefy and well designed, feeling good in hand. There is a clutch mechanism that is very sure and predictable when the lever is turned and you can use the clicks to set drag exactly where you like. Drag is consistent in every position. It’s altogether a nice ballhead and while a worthy substitution for a premium ballhead, it does have a few quirks.Weyllan includes a 3/8 - 1/4 adapter and hex wrench to install it, plus a small stamped multitool that doesn’t have any application on this ballhead (go figure).Plain white box, head in a plastic bag wrapped in bubble wrap. Not the most giftable, but it arrived without damage. No manual, information sheet, parts list, contact information, etc. Zero.

I used this on a good tripod to use with a set of sky watching binoculars. Did the job just fine.

Comes in a plain thin cardboard box. The head is in lightweight bubble wrap. All parts appear to be metal. Knobs rotate smoothly. The ball moves smoothly, but there is a little drag that can be felt with movement. The ball head knob is plastic, as are several of the smaller knobs. The ball is aluminum and seems to be well machined. The arca plate finish is smooth - with rubber pads to protect equipment. It slides in fairly well and locks down secure.

It's ok as far as ball heads go. The action is pretty smooth, and the ball locks up solid. The rotation is also pretty smooth, once you figure out the screw for it. I also like that it's Arca-Swiss compatible. One thing I don't care for, however, is there's no "safety catch" for the plate. If you loosen it or if it isn't quite tight enough and you think it is, it can slide right out on you. Not a good situation, really. Most decent ball heads have a safety of sorts to prevent disasters.Aside from that, it works pretty well. I'm not a big fan of the shoe latch, per se, but once you get it adjusted it's pretty solid and quick to release. In all, it's a pretty good value. 4 stars.
