8.5 Inch Electrostatic Mat
The Electrostatic Mat attachment for the Portrait 4 makes loading and unloading materials cleaner and easier than ever before. It gives firmer holds to your delicate materials* without damaging them while removing them from the mat.
Only compatible with the Portrait 4. Perfect for letter sized smooth materials. Easy to attach to the machine. Just remove the bottom front cover, line up the terminal of the machine and the terminal of the ES Mat and gently slide them together until the corners pop up on the mat and the mat is secured.
The ES Mat has an electrically conductive network that builds up static electricity to hold materials in place during cutting. Because materials can be held without an adhesive mat, you can cut delicate materials without damaging them upon removal. Making Clean up a breeze.
Place the protective sheet on the ES Mat before powering it on. Press the ES Mat power button, give it a few moments to charge, and smooth your protective mat and media down so no bubbles are present.
Excellent for Print and Cut jobs, Stickers, Cards, and so much more without the sticky mess from an adhesive mat.

I highly recommend using this electrostatic mat over the regular sticky mat that comes with the Portrait 4. This is very easy to set up and connect to the machine. And silhouette studio has settings where it will automatically detect the new mat. I can easily cut out stickers now without any issues of my stickers getting damaged from the sticky backed mat or staying stuck or having an residue left on the back of my material. The only thing that is difficult is knowing the exact amount of pressure and force to use to not cut through the protective sheet on the electrostatic mat. You can replace that part however.

I LOVE the end results this creates -- not having to deal with everything I make being sticky from the mats and unpeeling everything is AWESOME.But the mat keeps turning off mid-use. I have to babysit every cut and turn the power to the mat back on again several times each cut.I am guessing the connector on the Portrait and the Mat aren't making great contact. If I can figure out how to make this stop happening, it's a great product -- if not, I'll be returning it.EDIT: The longer I've used the product, the worse its mmalfunctionshave gotten. I really wish I had returned this when I had the chance, because I hate it. So mad, such a waste of money.
