The base is not super heavy, but it doesn't have a cheapy feel to it either. My cones are stable on them during use.I especially like the adjustable telescoping feature. I chose this thread stand because the thread loop is enclosed (not just a hook where thread could slip out) but not entirely sealed.Very happy with this purchase so far.

Great for big spools of thread. I wanted to switch to 5000M spools of thread instead of 500M spools and this worked perfectly for the big spools. It didn’t come with instructions but it’s pretty self explanatory to build, it’s also very sturdy and light weight.

I bought this when my plastic spool thread holder broke. The quality is very nice. It's sturdy and unlikely to snap in half like my other one. There's not much to say - it will do its job nicely and hold up to years of sewing.I only have two complaints - one was that there were no instructions or diagrams in the box. I had trouble assembling it - there are some unnecessary holes in the base complicating that trouble. Expect that you need to really push the center pin in - it won't go in easily, which is good once its assembled because you don't have to worry about it falling out or moving. And the little screw and washer in the same bag as that center pin go underneath the base, to secure the telescoping thread holder. My other complaint is that you have to thread the thread through the top thread holder thing. You can't just hook it on like my old plastic one. I tried hooking it by passing it between the metal bars, but the metal is so close together that it broke the thread. I tried to bend it a little to give space but no luck. It's definitely sturdy! It would have been nice to have the slightest gap there so I could just hook the yarn, since it sits behind my machine and is already difficult to get at.Either way, I don't regret buying it. I will adapt to threading and I figured out the assembly. This is much sturdier and nicer than my previous one.

for the price it works the stand is a little light in weight i thought it would be knocked over as soon as i started sewing you just have to place the stand at a distance to prevent that. if you pay double the price there is a stand that is better quality. but if you don't sew much gets the job done for holding the thread and its nice you can break it down for storage

I look forward to using it with my new sewing machine which doesn't accommodate large spools of thread. This is a great work around so I can quilt using my larger spool of Glide thread.

East to assemble, used a small hammer washcloth to tap spindle in place. The base is weighted which I really like, my last one was all plastic and not as stable. Great buy for the money.

Using the large spools of upholstery thread on my Singer heavy duty machine was rather difficult until I discovered this spool holder. It's priced well, works perfectly, and doesn't take up too much space. I love it!

I live this product. Very easy to set up and use. It sure has been a life saver with using the larger spools of thread.
