Out of the box it's super easy to get started, just plug and play. Even without software I did find that the picture quality was much better than my last webcam even in poor interior lighting. It adjusted brightness and color temperature for my face and not the background and it stayed in focus with little to no focus hunting. My guess is that it uses one lens for color and the other for detail, so that it can merge both into an image that looks much better than the environment would normally allow. The EMEET STUDIO software was a little hard to find since this is a new product, it's not linked to from their website, you have to type in the exact address that was on a small piece of paper in the packaging. The software does give you a lot of customization options including field of view, metering options, noise cancelation profiles. I found the mode labeled "noise reduction" did the best job, and rivaled other AI powered noise cancelation tools I've used in the past for meetings in areas with a lot of ambient sounds. Now for the cons and why I dinged it a star. The first is software, while powerful, is not polished. You can adjust the field of view, but not any panning of that view. A lot of options are hidden unless you turn on preview. It's unclear how Intelligent optimization impacts effects and why they are on different tabs. The fonts and photos are too big in some areas and confusing in others. And some features like intelligent framing are not selectable. The other big reason for the ding is the lack of a decent mount. They camera does not stand on it's own, but has a quarter inch socket for tripods. I do like the flexibility of alternative tripod mounts, but the one they included is too tall (even though it is small) to be practical. It doesn't fit under my monitor (and no, the ball head is not removable), and they don't include a clip to attach the camera to the top of the monitor. I eventually got an adjustable tripod adapter that lets me get the perfect height and angle, but even it required me to find some washers because the tripod screw hole at the bottom isn't very deep. I have no idea why they decided not to also offer the same basic monitor clip/tilt stand that nearly every other webcam has. I could overlook the first generation software being rough at the start, but only offering this mini tripod in the box means a lot of people will have to find hacks, like I did, to make it work for them too.Overall, the image and sound are great for the price. However, unless you have an existing tripod mounting point (and have some washers handy), expect to be frustrated by the included tripod.

(photos are comparing Logitech Streamcam to this webcam)I wasn't sure what to expect because I'd never heard of this brand and thought a tiny little webcam couldn't be better than my $140 Logitech one but boy was I surprised! As you can see from the images the Logitech is absolutely terrible when it comes to lighting. I took both photos under the same lighting conditions. The Logitech is grainy, dark, the color is washed out red from the LED lights I have, and the picture is rather blurry and not crisp at all. The Pico is perfect. All I had to do was make some small tweaks in the software for white balance and brightness (because it was trying to overcompensate for a dark room a little bit). My Logitech, on the other hand, just looks like that no matter how much I try to fix it. I had been using my expensive Canon DSR for streaming because of this and now I don't have to drag it out and set it up and worry about a bunch of extra stuff on my desk. I was surprised at how much detail it had. You could seem my skin texture and freckles perfectly. I wish it came with a beauty filter because of that! It's almost a little too detailed. The fact it uses an external USB-C cable and not a built in one that's permanently attached is great. You can use whichever cord works best for your setup as long as it has a USB-C on the end. It does come with a small tripod which I didn't like on the desk (surprisingly it fits perfectly in the Streamcam monitor mount) but it does come threaded so you can use it either with a tripod or standard-size threaded webcam mount which is pretty cheap. I do also love that it's small so you can easily store it away when not in use and it comes with the little privacy cover that not only hides it but protects the lens.Overall I'm super impressed by the camera and the pictures totally show why.

People and companies throw around the moniker "AI" around a lot these days, for better or for worse. The AI train is in full swing/steam, so I don't blame them for jumping on the bandwagon. But what does it really mean? Can a no-name company from China really add AI into a 4K webcam that's under $100? Hm...And the honest answer is I really, really doubt it. In this case, "AI" is just their fancy, "hot" word they use for software integration which makes the video quality better. I really don't know how they do it, but that second AI camera is supposed to aid in autofocus and low-light, but that really doesn't make sense as the main Sony camera lens is what you see on the screen, and autofocus and the quality of the image sensor on it are what determines the image quality - the second camera lens can't just piggyback hardware-wise on it - that's not how camera sensors work. So it might be more of a two-way sensor or communication thing where it's more of a processing unit than a camera sensor.Anyway, whatever it is, it works pretty well - I just don't appreciate the ambiguous advertising. However, in the end, how it functions is the most important thing, and for a 4K webcam with pretty good video quality, and for under $100, I feel that's a win. Webcams haven't progressed to the point where it should be because the need for its use has plummeted with the advent of the smartphone and laptops. I remember 10 years ago Logitech had the c920 that was the king of 1080p webcams, and only now are we getting 4k webcams for around the same price. But this is from a Chinese company (remember to tape it up when you're not using it, folks!), so something like this from Logitech would cost more. Therefore, for its quality and value, I chose to rate it five stars, until I can find the cracks and big cons in it later, then I will update my review.
