Emerald and Jones are top notch if you're not into crafting your own reeds. Emerald is much more affordable.

This reed suffices as a useful backup/practice reed for beginner oboists. At first this reed may be flat and/or soft, but soon emulates the sound of a handmade reed for one or two weeks. To some, this reed will not last as long as handmade reeds or have the full richer tone provided by handmade reeds. Be sure to use right reed hardiness (ie: medium). Finally, this reed is better than Jones reeds and is similar to more expensive store reeds, such as Singing Dogs. Definitely one of my choices for store reeds.

Much cheaper than the oboe reeds they sell locally. Have purchased this multiple times.

My daughter has been playing oboe for 3 years and plays fairly advanced pieces. She was unable to get much of a sound at all out of this reed. We have never seen one quite like this! Buying reeds from Amazon is always pretty hit-or-miss, even from this same seller. Sadly this is easily the worst we have received. Buyer beware!

I got this for my know methods class as a music education major in college. It worked great for me, and I had no issues with it. It lasted me through the entire class and I aced the test.

I have had not substantial problems with this reed considering it is not hand made. My instructor had to alter is a bit but said that they were not too bad for starter reeds. I will however be moving to hand made reeds as soon as I have more control over my playing.

, When I first got the reed I thought it was in good condition, but 2 days later the reed got a crack in it. I'd suggest that the seller should put the reeds in a better,safer reed case. But the reed sounds good.

I used to make my own reeds, but now it is much more convenient for me to order them on line. I'm an intermediate player and truely appreciate a reed that allows me to produce a quality tone and to hit high notes and low notes with relative confidence. I'm happy with this reed.

The pitch of sound changes quite a lot during play.
