Putting almost any AC motor on a speed control usually results in the motor humming/buzzing. Putting one of these between the speed control and motor cuts it way down. Most are larger (and more effective) but for a small motor these are small enough to fit in back of a deep single gang box behind the speed control.

What wires are L, N ? The blue or brown ? I'm not an electrician so maybe it's standard color codes or maybe it doesn't matter. Even the datasheet doesn't indicate which color is L or N.
