After using a paracord wrap on my izula for a few years i was getting tired of the wrap slipping and having to re-adjust/re-wrap the handle. I wanted a set of scales, looked at TKC and decided against for now as the $40 for TKC's was near what i paid for the knife. Plus I consider the esee scae to be a 'baseline', I could use them for awhile and decide where to go from there.I knew I was getting simple G10 scales that bolt onto the esee izula. I was very impressed with the fit and finish. The G10 checkering is very grippy and feels great in the hand. The edge radius is consistent, the back face is very flat/ stiff and butts up to the tang without gaps. The screw holes are counter sunk. All radii, edges, holes and surfaces are free of g10 chips or burs. There is an internal spacer that fits in the skelotonized section of the tang with holes for the screw, a nice feature that should be listed, keeps the scale alignment with the tang even if the screws loosen. Speaking of screws they are male/female counter sunk screw heads with a nice fitting shoulder.I think the scales let the knife be used more hardly than bare or cord wrapped. Considering the material, heat treatment and length/thickness of the knife I really dont think this is a problem. The scales let the user get closer to the knife limits but they are still far away.I like the micarta material look and feel but I wish they were full length tlike the G10 scales. I plan on making my own micarta or wood scales using the esee's as a template.

The scales arrived on time. The scales made a difference in the appearance of the Izula withS35VN steel. It does not come with instructions. However, a 25mm Allen wrench can be used to put the scales on the Izula. The scales do enhhance the grip. I do not know the longevity of the scales. But I bellieve that ESEE makes quality products. This includes the scales. When the scales are used more in a variety of situations more can be said. The price for the scales is reasonable.

This turns the Izula into a very different knife, very comfortable and still small enough for neck carry.Micarta's texture feels really good in the hand, and creates a great grip for any task.

Good for adding a little more girth to the ESEE Izula, which makes it much more comfortable in hand.However, I wish the texture of the G-10 was a little grippier, though. It's grippy, but not quite as grippy as the texturing on the Spyderco ParaMilitary2 handles. I think I might have been a little happier with the same shape scales in canvas micarta (I'm not a fan of the way that the micarta scales don't go all the way to the end of the handle).It works well enough though that I'm not looking to replace the G-10 handles.

I’m very impressed with the structure of these scales. The color is deep and bold. The fit was 100%. If the scales look unaligned after installation, simply switch sides and all is perfectly aligned therefore after.Please keep in mind, the middle spacer was not an exact fit. They are smaller than the open cavity, and WILL cause shaking noises. Some reviewers opted to just leave it out with no reported problems. I however wrapped it twice with electric tape to add some width to the spacer and it fit like a glove. I personally like the added weight in the handle for better ergonomics. I hope you find this review helpful, this is a must purchase.

A perfect fit and these handles make a difference. My hand was getting a little tired after just a few minutes using the Izula with out the handles. Now it is so much easier. The knife also looks much better.

Die Griffschalen lassen sich mit einem 10er Torx passgenau anmontieren. Die Oberfläche ist angeraut, was eine dezente Griffigkeit ermöglicht. Man sollte beim Kauf bedenken dass das Izula dadurch schwerer wird. Ich finde die Griffschalen sehr gelungen, auch wenn sie m.M. etwas teuer sind. Mit ihnen habe ich trotz größerer Hände einen guten Halt an dem doch eher kleingebauten Izula.
