Day after Christmas I had to return a similar machine ( I won’t name brand here) that I had purchased for my wife as a gift. That unit completely stopped working after 5 cafe con leche ( latte) made for friends, and of course I had lost faith in such machines.However, I came across this coffee maker and the reviews were night and day in comparison to the other unit, so I made the purchase, and all I can say is what a machine.It is very simple to use, but very well thought out. The other unit was loud and to make the expresso took forever. This unit takes seconds to make plus, a superb taste for a smooth coffee with a delicious foam on top that normally would take a bit of effort when making the cafecito ( Cuban expresso) the traditional way.I don’t know about the $500 units, as I’ve never owned one, but this unit is truly all I can ask for my coffee.Highly recommend.

The machine came quickly and looks really sharp in my kitchen. it makes a great espresso and it's all Automatic. I can start it and it runs for the correct amount of time and is immediately ready for another shot. Heats up very quickly. Steams milk great.

It makes a great cup of espresso. But I am still struggling with getting the froth right. Also, the machine does not come with a frothing pot or espresso sized cups. You will need to purchase these items separately.

This machine is a wonderful addition to our home. The espressos and cappuccinos are better than those purchased from the public stores. It is well worth the minimal investment.

I love my ilavie espresso machine, this is my second one. My first one was fantastic it made the perfect latte every time. It fits perfectly on my counter top! Great purchase!!

This was a great machine. I have a different ilavie machine, and this one was far superior! Steaming the milk was super fun, and trying to be a fancy barista at home with milk designs is still a process, but much easier with the steamed milk! Espresso and cappuccino was tasty, and the cleanup process was super simple too!
