Fantastic, like in the good old days!!We have a few areal rugs and with two dogs and 3 cats, the normal vacuum won't clean them completely.With the old fashion carpet beater it is a pleasure to see how clean the carpets will be.It is no joke, but living in Mexico where a carpet beater, "sacudidor de alfombras" is totally unknown, the Aduana refused twice the entry because at the x-ray of the parcel they thought it is a weapon and sent it back.Finally after some long phone calls to the officials and declaring that it is a unit to beat up the carpets, unruly kids and the wife, they finally permitted the parcel to be shipped to us. HAIt is a really great, old fashion craftmanship and our "Hombre de mil uses" love to clean the carpets with it.Now our Mexican neighbors want one too. We ordered two and now give one away to make someone happy.

Very flimsy, improperly coated, and not sturdy or useable at all, I had to repair several points on it already and I havent even used it

This is to clean antique oriental throw rugs - in the range of 100 to 200 years old. It was less robust than I hoped. But maybe its construction is good enough to do the job - and gentle enough for the carpets/.

This product is non-functional junk. And of course, after 1 month cannot be returned. I wonder if the intent was for decoration only, or maybe meant as fast-burning firewood?One of the rods broke after first use (far from full force, more like gentle carpet patting type use!) and I am afraid - because the rest looks like it can snap any moment - to use it now with any useful power. My open hand works better than this. Where did the times of quality carpet beaters go?

Simple and effectiveI bought this, to remove animal hair from my throw rugs (flat woven cotton) because the vacuum seems to work the hair into the rugs rather than remove it. This does the job. The handle on this is more flexible than the much older one my mom has, this means there isn’t as much force needed when using this and its easier on the wrists. Good thing mom didn’t know about this, when i was a kid. Good quality and a very fair price.

It works if you dont use a rug beater on your sofa and chair cushions you should.....Update:OK it broke....that didnt last long.... good thing wasnt totally expensive.... grrrrr all rattan ones break but works so well....

It really works and is old-school tough (but looks nice and quaint!) I use it for area rugs and some cushions. Great product!

It's a good design and made of (theoretically) the right material - rattan, but I suspect someone's taken a good product and started cutting corners. I've had mine for 2 months now, and the wrapping at the base of the handle has come off (making it very uncomfortable to hold correctly), and now the individual pieces of rattan in the long flexible handle are beginning to break in half - can't stand up to the whipping effect of using it to beat carpet. I wondered for a minute if I was just using it too hard, but it IS a carpet beater, for heaven's sake, so you would not expect it to deteriorate with beating. I'll bet this product used to be top of the line, but not any more. Save your money (or just plan on buying a new one every 6 months).

Purchased this purely for decor piece. It's gergeous! Please note this is lovely lovely decor piece and in no way you should use it to beat any kind of rugs thicker then a towel. It is not designed for that purpose. Beautiful decorators piece!

I have just received this item.The box has to be big but the paper inside is too much (better than Plastic I know )The carpet beater is good quality great size and seems sturdy.Great colour and a very good handle.Would recommend on the look of this item but have not used it yet
