We recognize that dogs are canines and thus meat eaters. In the wild that's what they hunt to eat, along with fruits such as berries, fermented apples, etc. They rarely eat plants unless they're easy to get and palatable. Many plants have a defense mechanism which makes them bitter in their raw state. We are so grateful for this dog food. They love the chicken and Beef. We add a little desiccated ancestral supplement organs and bones from capsules now and then. The liver is an added bonus, one of the most nutritious foods you can feed your pet. We add some green beans or a little pumpkin occasionally and give them fruits as a treat. Our beloved Labs, one black the other yellow, are thriving and happy. One was rescued and underweight with some health issues. Now they are both beautiful with clear eyes, white teeth, and shiny coats. I wish we had discovered this years ago with our other pets. The food smells and looks like delicious meat. The price is very reasonable and I hope they don't increase it or change the formula. We haven't tried the salmon because it probably smells. They see a Chiropractic Vet for checkups. What a relief to know we're doing the best we can for our fur kids. We have not had any dented cans but we buy exclusively through Amazon and appreciate the subscription price.

I am really pleased with this dog food. My dog loves it!! I give her one quarter of the can in morning and evening and she has lost weight and is acting like she did 10 years ago! A can lasts her almost 4 meals. She is a 13 yo tri pod so I have to keep her weight done and nothing has worked until I found this dog food. It has lots of vitamins in it which is great and she loves it. I highly recommend this food.

Great stuff but its supplemental to additional food as all this does is contain beef and nothing else that an animal needs

SO far so good. Recognizable as chicken. Smells fresh! It is a very moist product. Firm, not exactly a paste, more like a non crumbly pate. Stays together and can spread, yet not so thick that it is hard to spread over kibble. All chicken--well, that and "water sufficient for processing, liver, and guar gum". Says it is cooked and sealed in its can. Keep in mind that this is not meant to be sole source nutrition. It works well for use as a food topper or in a treat puzzle or licky mat. Maybe elimination diets. But dog still needs vitamins and minerals and carbs.I normally buy 100% chicken, or the ever lovely . The former is available in cans and the latter comes in little boxes. The other is slightly more granular (like crumbles with gel) whereas Honest Kitchen is a very smooth dense paste. All very good, all just one single ingredient listed on packaging. Against the Grain is also cooked and packed in its own can. Just different amounts and price points between the brands. This Evenger's option is one I am very glad I tried and am buying more as soon as I finish this review.I also keep this type of stuff on hand as part of prepping for my pets. I have two labs (and three cats). The labs always get some sort of protein topper on their kibble. Usually some shredded chicken. Usually it is cheaper for me to buy chicken for them, but this past year has been uncertain in terms of availability, and at times price (though price hasn't stopped me--yet). So some days they get the shredded chicken some days the canned. Or a blend. The main thing is that I want to make sure they have food, and something they are used to. So I keep them at forefront of my mind when shopping and making proactive choices in food purchasing. Even the canned food I used to get has been out of stock or very challenging to buy over the past year. So stuff like that is something to keep in mind. This Evanger's brand was not one I had tried before, though I certainly heard of it. I decided to buy it alongside my usual purchase of Against the Grain 100% chicken (I am not at all against the grain, that is just the name. I am pro grain). The price was significantly lower for same amount. The quality seems good, Made in USANow that I have tried it, I am going to order more. If I experience anything worth sharing- good or bad, I will update. I keep up with my reviews.PS. I have only used a couple of cans, but so far I am not noticing chicken bones or other bits.

I mix kibble with Evangers beef or salmon for both my retired greyhounds. A few simple ingredients and no poultry. I never thought chicken could loosen stools and am happy that both retired greyhounds have better outputs and seem to enjoy the food too.

First case of Beef/Liver, dogs loved it. Consistency was nice and moist and smelled great. Ordered second case and it was complete opposite; food was dry and brittle. Went ahead and fed it to my dogs anyway and right away one of them got sick and developed diarrhea. It wasn't until I stopped feeding them this, that her diarrhea stopped and her appetite resumed. There are many reviews consistent with this situation. If you love your dogs, I would highly recommend looking at other options/brands. Not worth it.
