I needed a small reading lamp for on my headboard, nothing too fancy but something reasonably attractive. Wanted it to be wired, didn't want to be bothered with batteries and remotes (for heaven's sake why would I need a remote when it's 12 inches from my head?). This fits the need perfectly. Bought one for myself and one for my daughter. It's such a basic design that it fits in both our decor styles and ideal amount of lighting for working on the laptop in the evening or reading at bedtime. Quality is great. I did misunderstand the assembly instructions so I nearly broke the hanging mechanism before I had an epiphany and understood how to put the arms on properly. I would most definitely buy these as gifts for anyone looking for a simple bed lamp.

We had one of these before and really liked the nice glow at night to read by. The only thing was I didn't like the cover much so thought I would tear it off and replace it. Oops. I ended up just wrecking it and then it was ugly. We thought of reordering the same but we opted, instead, for the new over the neck rubbery personal lights that allow sleep by one in bed when the other is still reading. Those work fine but we missed the warmth of the old light and so I just bought another one. Now we have that, and the individual reading lights and have the best of it all. This light for warmth and comfort and to read by, but can be turned off and the personal lights on when we still want to read and the other wants to sleep. I still don't love the shade but it does the trick when you want a subdued warmth. So the moral of the story; the new individual over the neck lights work, but for warmth and a warm feeling get one of these old-fashioned over the headboard ones, too. A lot of products from yesteryear add a warmth and comfort to life that just isn't in most of the new ones.

Good I just had a headboard that was to wide. maybe a flexible width could be better

Because they are made in America the plug had to be changed which cost a bit. Also had to drill metal in wood frame of bed to hold lamps in place so not suitable for beds with wide headboards. Otherwise they work fine
