Cylinder was missing an O ring. I had to remove the cylinder after I installed it when i realized it was leaking because of the lack of the o ring. I was the forced to reuse the old o ring from my old cylinder. The o ring is not a reusable part.Part then completely failed in less than a year because one of the three bolts holding the unit together sheared completely off.I got a replacement and that also failed in less than a year.

This part failed twice for my 2006 Honda Civic si. Both failed in under 5 months.

I too own a 2006 Civic si and when my original clutch failed in 2016 I had no idea I could replace my own master cylinder. I learned a hard lesson since I let a local garage do the work for over $500. Anyway, the clutch started getting soft and the system was losing fluid off and on for about a year. Then this last December it got worse and started to creak when I engaged it and then it started to not engage at all. I kept replacing the fluid and pumping it up getting it to work for about 6 months until it totally failed last week (4/11/19). In reality, the car just had not been the same since they "fixed" it, grinding gears, erratic feel, etc, etc. When I asked what my options were the shop told me I was basically out of luck, but they could fix it again.... yeah, no. So I consulted Dr. youtube, and a couple of days ago I received the replacement "46925-TA0-A02" which is the genuine Honda replacement part (available here for $130). I finally got the failed cylinder out of the car and you can see what I observed in the pics I posted. Apparently either the bolts used on this super cheap part are extremely low in quality or had been over-tightened at the factory. The bolt head had popped off and the unit was basically open to the atmosphere and leaking profusely. After a half day of taking things apart and putting them back together I can tell you that it's a 3.000% difference in quality. It shifts like it 's new now. lesson learned, insist on quality parts if you are paying someone to do the work. It you have the luxury of doing it yourself, don't go cheap. It's a huge gamble on a critical part like this.
