A Professional Exhaust Back Pressure Test Tool
Exhaust back pressure refers to the resistance of the engine exhaust pipe. The exhaust back pressure has an important influence on the power, economy and emission performance of the engine. The increase of exhaust back pressure will lead to the decrease of fuel combustion efficiency, economy, power and emission. The exhaust back pressure tester is a special tool for testing the exhaust back pressure of the engine.

Use of Exhaust Back Pressure Tester
If there are two or more oxygen sensors, start testing at the one nearest the engine and proceed down stream.
1.Before testing the exhaust back pressure, first confirm that the ignition timing and valve timing are correct, the valve clearance is correct, and the intake system is free of leakage and blockage.
2. Disconnect the oxygen sensor wires and remove the oxygen sensor.
3.Install the oxygen sensor adapter.
4. Push hose end onto adapter and make the pressure test. If hose end gets loose with age, use a hose clamp.
5. Start the engine. At idle, read the lower scale on the gauge. It should not over 1-1/4PSI (0.09bar), or be in the red zone. If it is, stop the engine and locate the restriction and correct.
6. If the reading at idle is not red zone on the lower scale, rev-up the engine to 2500 RPM. If the reading is in red zone 3PSI, (21bar) then is a restricted exhaust system.
7. If the vehicle has a Y-PIPE with converters on both sides, a reading must be taken ahead of both converters.
8. If the vehicle has 2 converters in series, testing for restrictions of both converters is necessary.
9. If the vehicle has a dual exhaust system each side must be checked.
10.After the exhaust back pressure gauge is removed, it shall be cooled by natural cooling, and the temperature cannot be reduced forcibly. The instrument can be recovered only when the joint temperature is consistent with the indoor temperature.
