I recently acquired a mini bike with a Predator 212cc engine that was not running. I got it running without too much difficulty and began riding it. The mini bike had an exhaust on it with a B&S 5hp style muffler on the end. This setup worked fine, but it was a bit rusty and beat up looking.When I saw this exhaust pipe on Amazon, I thought I would give it a try. First, this pipe is very well made. The fit up of the pipe to the flange is very good and the weld is excellent. The other end of the pipe is swaged and has 3/4-inch pipe internal threads. Included with the pipe are a flange gasket and socket head mounting bolts with lock washers. Also included is a muffler. This is a standard B&S 5hp style muffler that threads onto the end of the pipe. The muffler threads are not true tapered pipe threads and, as a result, go all the way into the pipe without tightening like a pipe fitting would. However, a star-type jam nut is included to ensure that the muffler is kept in place.When I held this exhaust pipe in place next to the existing pipe on my mini bike to get a rough idea how it would work, I saw a potential problem. It appears that the pipe would hit the frame of my mini bike as it extended back from the cylinder head to the rear. Note that this kind of interference, or lack thereof, is highly dependent on the frame design and the engine position, especially side to side. Just be aware that the pipe goes straight back from the header in line with the mounting bolt holes.Since I am using my mini bike as a pit bike at the race track on a regular basis, I did not unbolt the old pipe and try this one because I don’t want to get involved in a larger project until after the racing season is over. Once I try out the pipe, I will update this review.
