About this item

  • Burns for approx. 12 hrs. (1 wick) or 4 Hrs. (3 wicks)
  • Triple wick design for maximum efficiency and flexibility
  • Durable, reusable tin with screw on lid
  • 100% Beeswax candle made in USA

The candle TIN series offers the most versatile natural wax candle on the market. With three wicks in each candle, two different wick burn rates and two tin sizes, these candles can be a source of light or a powerhouse of heat. The hot-burn candle can even be used to boil water in a pinch. The hot burn wick provides a flame height of 1-2". Use this candle for drying out tinder, boiling water, or warming an emergency blanket. Exercise caution when using all three wicks as the tin becomes hot to the touch. The hot burn wick will boil 8oz of water in 18 minutes. The slow burn wick offers the longest burn time. Pair the slow burn wick with the large candle for a 30Hr continuous burn candle.

Initially, I had some difficulties with the wick burning away and then not being able to be re-lit because it was then too small. I had to remove some of the wax from around the wick and let it burn for fifteen minutes. Now, it seems to burn good.I like that there are three wicks which allow you to choose the amount of heat/light/flame. It's fairly small even though I bought the large, but puts out a lot of flame. It doesn't burn the wax too quickly, either, and therefore I think it will last a good while. This is the large size, and I wouldn't get one any smaller than this. I also like the container. The lid fits tight, but isn't waterproof and doesn't need to be. The lid is not screw on, it just has a friction fit to the container. The price was reasonable for being beeswax. And it sure smells good!I usually light it with a butane jet lighter, and it's difficult to light it with one as it wants to blow out the flame (the lighters fault - not the candle). So, I have learned to keep a few split popsicle sticks inside the can to light first and then transfer the flame to the candle wicks. All in all, I'm well pleased with it and it will be a great addition to my survival kit.

Bigger than I thought, about half a baseball size. Lid is why I purchased. Good quality. Sturdy, going to be able to reuse several times. Plan for camping and light when electricity goes out. You can light one or more wicks. Like this versital advantage.

What’s to say? It’s a clean-burning candle in a can for easy transport. Toss it into your emergency kit and you’re always going to have light when needed.

People who have never actually built survival shelters talk of building elaborate survival shelters if they ever get lost...In truth, if lost, but then get re-oriented, one would walk out until you ran out of light (natural and flashlight); or if injured, would be unable to build any shelter...A survival poncho allows one to hike into the cooler temps of the evening, then when having to stop, simply and humbly learn against a tree, light these candles under your knees in the "tipi" formed from your poncho. Bees wax candles emit about 2.5 the thermal output compared to parrafin. This (or any candle) is also great for getting a fire started. One bearded ole guy even did some temperature measurements with this set up and posted a You Tube video...It works!

These Exotac tins are great little product to throw in the camping / get home bag. Keep in mind that they are much smaller than I thoughtbtheynwould be. I would guesstimate the diameter of the tin to be about the same as a 1 oz American Silver Eagle. Still would buy it.

Bought this for a bug out bag. Liked the price, the format (tin), and compact size.Tested it out. It does burn slowly. However, one wick burned a quarter of the way before becoming unusable. The single wick barely puts off enough light, a weak key chain led light will put out more. All three wicks going at once doesn't make much of a difference in the light department. I didn't bother to wait to see if this would last the 30 hours since the one wick became unusable. That lost 7.5 hours by default.I'm guessing the wicks are what make this product fail. For a bug out bag, it is undependable for a light source, even if this one is a dud. Can't take chances like this for an emergency. For home use, you can buy much better beeswax candles and have plenty of space to store them at home.If you intend to use this item for emergencies, you will want to test it out and make sure it meets your needs. Or just take my word for it and avoid it. It's up to you.

Great size and very sturdy, well-made container. Good price for the amount/quality of the beeswax. Will update review once I end up using it.

I bought this to keep in my car for the winter in case I ever get stuck driving in the snow. I cant write a real review because I would only use it in an emergency situation however I am a little disappointed that the picture shows two when you only get one.

Worst candle ever. Barely keeps a flame. I am glad I tested it at home. If I used this in an emergency I would be in big trouble. Save your money and buy a match or birthday candle ... you will get a brighter flame.
