The Extech 380405 Capacitance Decade Box is very popular for product design testing and calibration because it can be substituted into a circuit and function in the place of any component with a standard value easily. Alternatively, it can be used to identify the best value for circuit operation then read that value from the switches. A capacitor of the size indicated by the decade box switches can then be put into the circuit.

Capacitance substitution box is excellent for circuit development. It features 5 decades substitution from 100pF to 11,111?F. 5% accuracy. 3 binding posts permit isolated substitutions and grounding the case separately.

Solid resistor decade box, feels really nice on my hands, no a metal box but does not feel flimsy. Switches feel very solid, and all the switches external metal case are connected to ground. The yellow box looks nice on the bench. Does not take too much space.Some of these resistor decade boxes cost 100’s or 1000’s of Dollars, that’s crazy. Unless you are designing the next iPhone replacement, this is all you need. Resistor are 1%.The front panel cuts out are no precise. Look the 1MΩ switch, as a result the switch feels kind of rough when set to “IN†or “OUT.†This is the worse switch on the box I got. Some other switches are like that, but they don’t feel too bad.Overall, good box. I like it. I think 5 stars are well deserved. Price is good. Made in Taiwan. Where else, right?

A lot of time can be saved by substituting sensor resistance values to check circuit integrity. This tool has not only saved me time but has helped me diagnose some difficult automotive trouble codes by inserting known good solenoid etc values in circuits.

Love being able to test automotive circuits with this thing. Beats sorting through my resistor box to find the right resistor for the job. The lead connections could be a bit more recessed into the unit like a multimeter but it doesn’t change its usability.

Super expensive but works great to control Trane Rtus in test mode and fake out resistors. Must have for HVAC tech. Countless ways to use this thing if you put your mind to it.

I use these to test line isolation monitors. When testing, I noticed the 20 ohm switch would fail the LIM. When I ohmed the decade box out I found that the 20 ohm switch would not show resistance. It was open. I had to retest two facilities after finding this which cost my company a lot of money.

I received the XON 380400 Decade Box quite some time ago and have found it to be an excellent addition to my array of test equipment regarding the electronics work I do, (including designing circuits for a specific need and hobby related tinkering).I have been needing a resistance decade box for years but unfortunately no businesses around here sell this kind of device anymore.Some months ago I was browsing on Amazon and saw a number of listings for resistance decade boxes that personally looked well designed, at least from the outside.Anyway it soon became apparent that the price of these were a bit out of my budget however, I kept on searching and saw the XON 380400 decade box which certainly had the features I required.However as it was more affordable I decided to purchase the decade box and after a couple of weeks it arrived at my address.Later that week I carried out a number of tests on the box primarily to determine the resistance accuracy of all the internal resistors which were all said to be within 1% tolerance along with the (low) inherent resistance of the box itself.Well after testing with my good quality multimeter everything passed with flying colours. All resistance tolerances were well within spec.As well, the XON 380400 Decade Box is solidly built and the switches do appear to be of good quality also.Although somewhat pricey I would still certainly recommend it.

I'm very happy with this product. It is made of heavy and very sturdy plastic. The resistances are very precise, they are all bellow the 1% error margin. The combination method with the switches allows for more combinations the most rotary switch box.
