If you can get a more solidly built one, do so. This one does the job for reading and burning discs, but the plastic it is cased in is brittle and very thin. Also, a little loud while using.

I bought this drive to watch DVD's on my computer. It worked a couple of times and then broke. Unfortunately it's past the window of return. Bought in July, broken in September of same year.

I got this drive today, initially, I plugged it directly into a port on the front of my PC. Device manager did recognize it, but when I put a disc in, it would freak out and keep getting removed/reinsterted from device manager. I was disappointed, until I remembered that I was likely dealing with a device that required a fairly decent amperage draw, likely beyond that provided from a standard USB port. I plugged the drive into my powered USB hub and voila! It works as expected. Drive is detected as a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-UD02D, and is set to the US region AFAIK. I would not attempt a firmware update, as the firmware is likely a hacked version of the pioneer firmware, as I'm fairly certain the internal hardware is not provided by Pioneer. Nonetheless, the drive performs well for the price.

it is not a bluray drive it is work as like dvd reader.
