I'm mostly use it for shredding cheese but sometimes carrots too and I actually sometimes hold either the rounded end or the flat depending on my bowl or dish. I like the size of the cuts and honestly they're so easy to clean.

My mom absolutely loves this grater. she had been looking at multiple stores and could not find anything like this. It’s perfect for grading garlic, ginger, cucumbers, and veggies. as she’s older, it’s easy for her to use given that she has some minor arthritis in her hands.

I definitely needed a new grater, and this was the perfect choice! I prefer to place my graters on top of the bowl when I grate cheese, and the silicone grips on this grater keep it from sliding around and cutting up my hand by accident. I think this one is definitely better for cheese, the shreds go through easily and don't get stuck like they do with the fine grater I already own. It cleans up easily, too! Looking forward to grating other things with this!

I end up doing a lot of grating of cheese, potatoes, other vegetables -- you get the idea. I literally always use the coarse grater on my big box grater, and was soooo tired of having to clean the entire grater with all the little rolls at the bottom and corners, and . . . and . . . . I saw this flat stainless steel grater with a nonslip handle and foot, a nice size, 12" x 4", and ordered. It is much easier to use and clean than my box grater, and much easier to store--I keep it in my cutting board rack for easy accessibility. It is very sharp. The handle is easy to grip, and the foot is fairly nonslip. The face of the grater has a little more flex than I would like, but I am getting used to it and it is fine. I am delighted to have this grater, and would recommend it without hesitation.

It actually bends out of shape when you use it on block of firmer cheese (e.g. cheddar) not strong enough.
