These are basically a lower cost clone of the oversized Timesert thread repair inserts (the "second chance" version for holes that have already had a repair fail). The big difference is that the outside thread on these uses a standard 7/16" tap, whereas the Timesert uses a proprietary tap with a weird thread pitch. The cost of the Timesert kit would have been more than the cost of replacement engine block in my case, but these things saved the day!

This little device saved me. I broke a tap off Ina cylinder head bolt. After I drilled it out it was too large for a standard bolt. You simply drill the hole to the intended size for the insert, tap the hole, and screw the Insert in. You can use a flathead screwdriver although I opted to purchase the special insert tool. The head torqed down with no slippage and my tractor is running great. The red stuff in the threads is thread locker. It keeps the insert securely installed.

Fixed my carburetor stud accident (dont ask). Bored the damaged hole out with a 3/8 bit then used a 7/16-14 tap and it screwed in perfect. Was able to save my new intake and avoid a huge problem!!

Great for thread repair in soft materials such as aluminum. Fair price, quick shipping. Can save a damaged product.

Had to use in an open water jacket head stud on a dodge. Built me a simple installation tool. I put sealant on insert side and loctite on the outside end. They beat helicoils hands down.

Got me out of a bind. Used it to replace a bolt broken off on my Water pump. Worked fine.

Worked perfectly for my application. Tapped the engine block and bolted it in place.
