The E-Z LOK threaded inserts kit for metal is a 46-piece set of solid, heavy wall, carbon steel, self-locking, unified coarse thread inserts for use in metal, packaged in a case with a compartment for each of five different sizes: 10-24, 1/4-20, 5/16-18, 3/8-16, and 1/2-13. These inserts are self-locking, with pre-applied Loctite on the external threads that is ready to use in 3-5 minutes and seals against liquids and gases to 6,000 psi when fully cured (72 hours after installation). They fit holes made with standard drill and tap tools, and install with a flathead screwdriver or bolt and jam nut (installation hardware sold separately). The inserts are made of American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) 12L14 carbon steel, which is cold drawn for better tolerance and strength than hot rolled steel. This steel has a Rockwell hardness of B84 and an ultimate tensile strength of 78,300 psi.

Externally threaded inserts are used to repair a hole with stripped threads, or to install a new threaded hole. The hole must be tapped to the correct size, then the insert is installed; it is anchored by an adhesive or locking elements.

E-Z Lok manufactures threaded inserts for use with metal, plastic, and wood. The company, founded in 1956, is headquartered in Gardena, CA.

Have a few other types of thread repair styles, this is a nice one as it allows standard threads for the insert, no special taps needed. Also can be used as a thread size reducer if needed, which was the primary reason I gave these a try.Nice problem solver!

Ordered a set of US std and a metric set. Received 2 metric sets in error. Found the barcode/content label was incorrect- it was for the US set but put on a metric (M100) kit. Returned that to Amazon. Hope they sort out the label before reselling it. These are just great for getting a really solid thread in a soft material like aluminum or plastic. Kit comes in handy so you have just the size you need.

E-Z Lok Inserts are great, I use them for a lot of different woodworking projects. The one problem is they don't offer as many thread pitch options as possible. They should increase their thread-pitch options, that would make them a more versatile option.

Used these to rethread a diesel blocks head studs. They have a nice fitment with my snap on tap. They have a nice fit with ARP studs. The selection is nice as well.

Not bad collection for the price, wish they would use something other than letter sizes for the drill required though, not that its hard to figure out, but really dont know many people who know the equivalents off the top of their head.

When possible to drill and tap a bigger hole these are by far the best solution. Much stronger than a helicoil and if something happens to your inner threads you can heat them up and remove them and just install new ones. They worked perfectly for my application in cast iron.
