Works as expected.It would be really tuff to splice winch line to hook without one.Surely will last forever so shouldn’t have to buy another except to gift one😉

Not much you couldnt do with a regular Fid, or even a pencil and a roll of electrical tape. But this makes it much faster and simpler. I picked this up to "convert" a 100' winch line, into two 50' extensions. It literally took about 10 minutes to splice a loop into the cut end of the first extension, and probably 5 minutes on the second one after learning how to use it on the first one. I even tested the my work by winching my pickup around my property to make sure I could trust my work. This thing is in my box of tricks that I take with me on my off road adventures, for that chance I break one of my new lines, for a quick and permanent field fix.

A little expensive, but it does make splicing braided winch lines or replacing an eye much easier. A good choice.

The Factor 55 Fast FID Rope Splicing Tool has been great in redoing our synthetic winch ropes. The fid has a carrying case, has guidelines on the fib to help in taking out the guesswork of how much rope to back splice, and it only takes minutes to use. It was well worth the cost.

Makes winch rope splicing easy. The reason I don't give it 5 starts is because the grabbing device got warped on my first use. This won't impact it's performance but after a few times I'd worry it may break.

This can save your and others lives as it can repair your rope in no time. Think you have lots of time on the beach, with the tide on the rise, think again. If you need recovery gear that is robust and fit for purpose, go no further. Do your homework and you will find no better gear!!

Works like a charm for the splices I need for a new set of Dyneema lifelines on my sailboat. The push motion of the Fast Fid is really easy, as it opens up the braid while you move it. I found that superior to the pull motion on tools like the D-Splicer, which tends to compress the braid as you pull the considerable length of rope you need for a a secure splice through.

I use my line for my plow in winter.This type of use is pretty hard on the first few feet of line. Typically folks will switch to a shorter (and therefore cheaper) plow leader. But I only learned that (of course) on the wrong side of the first season plowing.This FID saved me a pile of money (and line) by allowing me to splice repair. No new line. No shop labor cost. Took me all of three attempts to get a result that looks factory new.
