Well, I have ruled out Luggage Wheel Replacement as a retirement side job. When we returned from a recent trip I noticed one of the wheels of our 20+ year old King Kong Bundy roller suitcase has broken apart. Yes- the old wheels are not the easiest to remove. I was able to grind the heads off the bolts with a dremel, then drill out the center with a drill bit-all trying to be careful not to damage the plastic housing that the wheel sits in. Gripping one end of the bolt with small vicegrips helped to keep it from spinning during removal. My original wheels were wider than the new replacements, but the same diameter. I was able to add some small washers to the sides of the new wheel to keep it from shifting back and forth while rolling. It was very helpful that 2 lengths of hollow bolts were included-I had to use the longer pair to fit my wider housing. I also used the small washers that were included on the outside of the plastic housing to keep the new screws from digging in. King Kong Bundy is back in operation, but I'll be happy enough if I never go on another overseas trip!

I purchased the wheels to replace my Swiss Gear Laptop rolling bag wheels. I based it on another review; however, the measurement is incorrect. The with of the axel is narrower than the original wheels axel. I solved the problem by using the washers that came with the new wheels. Two on each side of the axel appear to be sufficient. I'll let you know after using it for a time.

This was a very easy drop in replacement for the Swiss Gear laptop rolling case/bag, with 54mm wheels / 6mm axles. Just use a key/allen wrench and screw out the axles, drop in the new replacement wheels, and screw in the axles. Very cost effective and to save your Swiss Gear bag for extended use, after the old wheels have worn out and falling off. Wheel dimensions for the pictured Swiss Gear laptop rolling case/bag was 54 x 18mm wheel and a 6mm axle/bearing Inner Dimension (ID). Axle/bearing full housing is 30/35mm.

The wheel came off bearing while installing them … too soft to last very long would have been better off to go to skate shop

These wheels were a nice upgrade to the originals I had worn out. They roll smoother and fit perfect. Replaced on a daily used rolling laptop/tool bag. I bought 2 different wheels and these were better. Had to hack saw through old axl to remove and then new one goes right in.
