This is a direct replacement for the OE gasket.Gasket has to be the proper thickness for axle bearing to seat properly in the axle tube.

According to an online store, these would fit my 1958 buick, but they did not. I'd assume they're for a chevy? Its Not fel-pros fault, but its a shame they didnt fit.

For some reason, some Felpro xref info does not include the C1 Corvette rear axle for this gasket. 1588 IS CORRECT (at least for use in my '62) and it fits just perfect. It's FELPRO, It's made in the USA, It fit my '62 Corvette rear posi axle... 'nuff said.
